My friend recently got married. She planned the entire wedding in 6 weeks. We were watching a wedding show together the other night and the topic of proposals came up, so she asked me how FI proposed and I asked her the same. She told me that her husband didn’t propose until 2 days before the wedding. I asked why he waited and why they started planning before there was a ring on her finger. She told me that they “only got married for legal reasons, so a proposal seemed a bit mushy at the time.”
Anyone else planning the wedding before being engaged?

I sure am! We know we are getting engaged and actually he just took his mom today to the Jeweler to see the ring we picked out! I’ve been “planning” in the respect that I know who will be in the wedding party, the wedding date, choosing colors and all of that. We didn’t need the ring to know it was met to be.

We had my ring made to match an heirloom wedding band, so we started planning as soon as he put the deposit down on the ring. We have a date, colors picked, I’m starting to buy my print it yourself invitation kits (but I won’t be printing anything for some time), and we’re booking our venue this week. I didn’t see the point in waiting around for my ring to be finished when I knew there were a million things to do. I also didn’t want to get stuck trying to start planning during the holidays. So far no vendors have commented on my lack of engagement ring. Hopefully I won’t be lacking one for long, though. I’m pretty sure the ring is finished, so now I guess he’s waiting for the right time to “ask”. 😉
