YAY and OMG I love the Va Va Voom dress you have on your Pinterest! Is that in the running or just inspiration for colors? Its GORG! Congrats, I'm so glad it worked out for you and your man and that you are oober excited!!
@misschickpea: Thanks! I love that dress too. The back is to die for. It's kind of just inspiration. But I'm really not sure. FI really wants me to wear white, but I'd prefer champagne or a light blush color... mostly because when we go to dinner, I'm not too excited about walking into the restaurant all ... LOOK AT ME! I LOOK LIKE A BRIDE! ;) so... who knows. I'm going dress shopping tomorrow....
I think that's a great idea. I see NOTHING wrong with eloping. And technically it's only an elopement if no one is invited anyway. It's personal and easy. There's no need for a big fancy day if you're not into that!
I just looked at the date and you're eloping on my bday! I'll be thinking about you!
So excited for you! Love your Pinterest board! I think it's awesome to still care about style even if you're not having an over-the-top themed wedding. I am hoping for my FI to find a three-piece grey suit for our elopement as well :)
Best wishes and congrats!!
I'm so happy for you! We're eloping also and planning what we'll wear, the ceremony venue, etc. It is so much less stress knowing we don't have a long list of people we need to please!
@Over the Moon: Don't mean to threadjack but - you're getting married in ICELAND? Can you please PM me and tell me more? That sounds incredible!
Jeez Juniper... not only could we trade RINGS, we could virtually trade weddings! We did almost the same thing, went away by ourselves, only the photog, and witness (although since we married in a public place, a crowd of over 100 poeple gathered, so I guess we technically had "guests" lol). We got ready together, and he left right before I put my dress on so we could still have a first look. We walked to the venue together with the photog snapping away, married, took some more shots, then hit the local pub for a few pints before heading out for an amazing dinner. I wore a full-on floor length dress, and a tulle birdcage.
OMG I love your, well, everything!!! I'm so glad you're doing what makes the two of you happy...and your Pinterest board is just AMAZING!! Congrats, and yay!! And...you may have converted me into an eloping bride to be too...hmmm...
Congrats!!! That sounds absolutely amazing and so stress-free! Also your excitment and happiness totally shines through in this post. Please post photo's on here after :)
My FI a & I are going to the Cayman Islands by ourselves as well. The term Eloping never crossed my mind. We both had been married before and had the big weddings so this time we thought how much fun it would be to go and get married somewhere fabulous. Family & friends all support us with our decision. Planning is a breeze! We bought a sunset wedding package with a Cayman Wedding Planner and she takes it from there. Really we just need to show up. I can't wait!!!
Love your pinterest boards btw.
Beautiful pics on your pinterest!
We're doing the same thing. The original plan was long-term planning a 'proper' wedding, but just the initial planning was rubbing us the wrong way... So we decide to elope to NYC in the spring, just us and our daughter. We're totally on the same page as you and your partner - I'm wearing a short dress (I think I'm going for grey as I don't want to look super bride-y everywhere we go!), he'll wear a suit, and we'll do some pretty pictures and a delicious yummy dinner.
Congrats on your happy, stress-free plans :)
WONDERFUL!!
I love your 'pintrest', your notification cards, your dress choices and especially love the brooch bouquet. We are having a DW in Sept and I am doing something very similar with my bouquet - but instead of brooches I have asked the lovely ladies around me to make me a 'flower stem' made from felt and buttons. That way it is bespoke, kitsch, and everyone I love can be 'with me' even though we will be thousands of miles away.
Enjoy your happy stressfree planning, and enjoy your beautiful day

First ... A little link to my Pinterest Elopement Board
And now... our official plans!
All systems a go! We've decided to elope as soon as we can... which will be the middle of February! We're going to either have a local judge marry us....I work for a law firm & he's chummy with everyone - has even married several people in our office. OR... we'll just go to the courthouse to get married.
Either way... it will only be us and our photographer/witness. No family. At all.
I'm going to book an appointment to get my hair and makeup done the day of. We're also booking a hotel room downtown.... where we will have a "first look" before heading to the courthouse (or wherever). After the wedding, we'll take portraits and then bid our lovely photographer adieu before going back to the hotel to enjoy a fabulous meal (at a restaurant I've always wanted to try but have never had an excuse to!) with champagne and dessert. The next day, we are jetting off to Mexico for a week long honeymoon.
I'm planning on wearing a short white dress, nude pumps, wool camel colored coat and birdcage veil or fastener. FI will be in a grey suit (ideally, 3 piece, we can dream, no?)
You guys.. I've said this before, but I am officially in love with our new plans! We can still have a vintage feeling "wedding", amazing photos, and of course, we will be saying our vows to one another. We get the traditional-ness of heading off to a honeymoon right away and none of the family drama we were previously dealing with when planning the *real* wedding.
I only wish there were more stories about elopements on here....
