How is everyone doing with planning for June??? It's really starting to hit me, the past year has flown by and now we are just about 8 months away from our wedding!

Most of the "big ticket" stuff is done for us. Mainly focusing on transportation and booking the honeymoon now. There is still SO MUCH to do! What is everyone working on these days?? I'm trying to figure out where I should be with planning :) Thanks in advance!!

I know!  June isn't too far off.  So far i've done the major things as well - venue - check (ceremony and reception), cakes - check, photographer - check, flowers - check.

Right now my main focus is on finding the dress.  Have you found yours?  I do have a favorite, but I am going back for one final "tryout" before I purchase it.  So for me, right now it's all about the dress!  Then i'll get to the bridesmaids dresses.  I'm hoping to have my dress ordered by mid October (hopefully I can go this weekend) and the bridesmaids' ordered by the end of October.  I feel like i've done so much already and now i'm just waiting on the date to get closer so I can kick it into high gear.

yay! another June 4th bride :)

I have booked the ceremony and reception sites. Photographer, florist, and officiant are booked.  I have my dress and 2 of 3 BM dresses.  The guys are wearing suits so they already have those and we found ties this past weekend.  My FI found a ring he likes, just have to order it online.  I am researching and pricing out limos and hairstylists and am about to book the honeymoon (not sure if it's too early but I found a great flight....)has anyone else booked their honeymoon yet?

oh and STD's are out already because we have lots of out of town guests coming.

Next up for me is starting at least one of the many DIY projects i have planned.

@souliganprincess I found my dress at the end of July on my 4th shopping trip! I've had the bridesmaid dresses for a long time- it was an unexpected great bargain that I took advantage of. I haven't picked out flowers yet- did you choose flowers that are in in bloom in June?? I'm kind of clueless with that stuff.

@hzleys100 Did you meet with your officiant before you booked pre-cana? Did you have any trouble finding pre-cana classes? I want to have that done sooner rather than later!

@future Mrs.M We sent out our STD's already too. We are also checking out limo/party bus pricing. As for the honeymoon we just decided on Turks and Caicos and are looking for places to stay.  Where are you and your FI honeymooning??

What are some of the things everyone is DIY'ing? I don't want to take on too many projects but I am doing favor cards for our donations, our programs, and a diy photo booth.

We are honeymooning Costa Rica :)

For DIY projects we are doing our own invites (and already did the STD's), I am doing a donation instead of favours as well so will either have a seperate card or include a small note at the bottom of the menu card.

We are doing table numbers (although might buy those luminaries from etsy) and i want to do those tissue paper pomanders for the aisle.  As well i want to do a unique guestbook, thinking maybe mad libs style.

We are also having cakes as centerpieces on each table, so I need to make 15 cake stands - whew, that is exhausting just thinking about everything i want to do.

Mrs. M- I just had to look up luminaries to see what they were lol! They are gorgeous! We are using tall candle lanterns so I don't know if I could include the luminaries but they would make a great decoration for our cake table or our gift table! This is why I love weddingbee!

We want to do a unique guest book too- maybe postcards with a mailbox. I love all the different ideas for personalization! I'm def getting more inspired to start- I wish I had a room to store all these projects!

@BlueChampagne:  We're date twins, and I have completed all the things on your Done list as well!! Makes me feel like we're right on track!!

I've also dived into a couple different DIY decor projects (which I'm loving) and our E-Pics are this week! Woohoo!  Looking forward to designing the STD's once we get the E-pics back....

Did you ladies get any good discounts/deals by booking your honeymoon so far out?

OMG. you guys are so far ahead! My date is may 29th... well that's close to june! lol

and so far i have this done for sure:

    • ceremony/reception/food place

    • photography

    • cinematography

i have basically found the dress i love! lazaro 3050. Just need to find a place who sells it for cheaper than where I tried it on. As for BM dresses, I've picked it out, but i'm waiting for my jr bm to try on some this weekend that matches the BM dress or if they can fit in the BM dresses. I told them that dresses will need to be ordered in by nov. we are ordering online for their dresses since the local bridal shop has the dress for over 200 and only 140 online.

I'm trying to book wedding officiant and cake next month. i am having the hardest time finding a male officiant in my area! i don't want a female.

i already have an idea of who i'm getting for ceremony music, but i'm not sure about a band or dj for the reception... what do you guys think is better?

I'm taking engagement pics at disneyland in january!

I'm doing my own flowers and centerpieces. Lots of different terrariums. And getting flowers from the LA flower district so that's not gonna be till close to the wedding.

that's all i have so far!! i was going with the timeline on things to get done on theknot. should i be booking everyone already?

i have my fiance in charge of the honeymoon because he wanted to do it.

We set a date TODAY. ceremony and reception sites are booked (well, contracts are in the mail) and our date is reserved with the caterer (who will also do the cake). I have one hotel block booked (yes Bees, I did all of the above yesterday!! I rule!). And.. That's it. I am feeling like we will never be ready in time :-/

@BlueChampagne: have you considered a Candy Buffet

    www.sweetcreationsbyjudy.com

I am not sure what area you live in but if not in so ca, look at my ideas and find someone in your area that can do a good job..... one thing a candy buffet must have an attendant to keep clean and full.

I thought I had a lot crossed off until I read your lists! Feeling like a slacker over here. For October... Tackling DIT design of the invitation suite then getting quotes from local printers. Finally choosing an officiant and DJ.

Not ready to finalize the cake vendor yet. I want to do more tastings!

jhorn:  What a pretty candy display!  We're actually doing a chocolate fountain.  I think doing a candy display (even if for favors) would be a bit of overkill for the sweets! Thanks for the idea though.

@supershopper  We haven't booked the honeymoon yet, probably next week but I have seen some good deals out there. Airfare however is another story- it's expensive regardless, we're trying to see if using our miles helps. I had no idea Caribbean flights were so expensive!

@spoonoutmyheart   I think you can't go wrong either way with a band or a DJ, it's just a personal choice. We're having a DJ, actually a friend/professional DJ- he is saving us a ton of money so that's how we made our decision.

@MissBoston You still have 8 months! You will definitely have everything done by then. I made a month to month 'to-do' list that is helping to keep me on track with planning, just focus on the tasks for each month and you'll be fine.

Has everyone decided on their 'look' yet? My dress won't be in until February and I find it difficult trying to pick out shoes and a veil without seeing it on me again =/

Since ours is so late in June (6/25), we still have 9 months (minus 3 days).

    Done:

    Picked venue

Booked caterer (who will also take care of tent, chair, table, linen, china, glass, and flatware rentals, set-up and take-down), set tentative menu

    Booked photographer (family friend)

    Booked stationer (friend of mine)

    Guest list

    Made and mailed save-the-dates

Have my wedding ring (my grandmother's)

Began designing my dress with the friend who is making it for me

    To do:

    Florist and flower design

    Hotel rooms for guests

    Guest transport to/from hotel

    Invitations

    Music

Hair - who will do it, what style

    His ring

    His clothes

    Officiant

    Vows

Figure out how to set up the venue (my mom's house) to best accomodate the gathering

Well now I really feel like I have to get the ball rolling.  I had a reception hall picked out for June 11th but I found another one I am in love with that would be $2000 cheaper for June 10th (and that is inclouding the photographer, DJ and minister).  So I am back to square one.  I have so many FABOLOUS **wink** DIY projects saved but I guess I should start actully doing some now... :)  Any other bees getting married on a Friday??

Same as starburst. I feel rather behind now, after reading some of your posts. Once I've got my dress certain things can then get done like BM dresses etc.

@helenberrycrunch: Oh, totally. It seems "little" things keep popping up and we have to raise the bar a little higher. *sigh* Although, I admit I am not being as fiscally responsible as I could be on certain items...but it's our Big DAY! haha

    I'm Sunday, June 5th!

    So far, I have:

    • location for ceremony booked
    • location for reception dinner booked (we are only having 16 guests, so it's really more of a dinner than a reception)
    • jp booked
    • acoustic guitarist for ceremony booked
    • horse and carriage booked
    • hotel rooms for us and for my maid of honor booked
    • florist booked, but flowers "too soon to pick". Pretty much know what I want, though
    • dress ordered and in. Veil, shoes and jewelry purchased
    • MOH (only attendant) dress purchased
    • photographer booked
    • centerpiece glassware purchased. I found AMAZING purple glass footed bowls at Homegoods that match my color exactly
    • Mom's dress purchased
    • invitations being put together (I'm making my own).

I feel like I'm doing ok so far! A lot of the things I did, I was told it was "too early" to finish off, like picking the menu (although since it's a small wedding, it people will pretty much pick what they want), and the florist also said wait a bit. My dress came in, but it's "too soon" for a first fitting.

It's hard because I'm doing this long distance. I get confused about what's left to do, but am hoping I don't have TOO much left.

Things I have done or at least started:

-Ceremony & Reception Venue (same) - booked

    -Hotel block - reserved

-Rehearsal Dinner space - booked; working out menu

-Caterer - booked - still working out menu

-Florist - booked - still working out exact flowers

-Linens/Tables/Chairs/Silverware/Etc. - booked; still working out exact table needs

-Band for ceremony - booked - still working out songlist

-Officiant for ceremony - booked; still working out what ceremony will be

-Dress & shoes - purchased; dress has arrived; still need to go for first fitting and see about alteration situation

-Bridesmaids dress designer - booked; still need exact designs, fabric selection, and girls sent in for measurements

    -Photographer - booked

-Wedding invite and STD designer (design is gift from bridesmaid) - booked; still working out exact design

-Tentative guest list - decided; need to gather names/addresses and get count perfectly down

    -Color palette - decided

-Ideas for reception decor - all decided; just started gathering some elements like milk glass

-Bridesmaids and Groomsmen - selected and agreed upon

-My wedding band - deposit down and paying on layaway

    Still Need To Start Doing:

-Work out playlist for ceremony (live music), cocktail hour, reception, and dance hour

-Gather rest of decorative elements and games/props, etc.

-Find priest to bless the ceremony

-Ask family members if their kids will be our ringbearers and flower girls (we're having two of each...)

    -Find groom's wedding band

-Find vintage stamps for STDs & Invites

-Decide on veil, gloves, and necklace

    -Reserve attire for groomsmen

-Decide on ushers and other helpers

    -Start a registry

-Decide what to do for dessert - we're thinking a pie buffet and are not sure if we need to "book" anything or if we can just pick up a bunch of pies around town the day or two before the wedding...

I'm sure there's other stuff to do, but this seems like everything...
