Omg, I’m in the same boat!  Its horrible to stick it out in a job that you hate.  I’ve been doing it for what feels like forever.  As a result of a recent post (about how crappy my office environment is) some of the bees encouraged me to start looking now.  With 2 months left, by the time I found something, I might be able to negotiate a start time that wouldn’t interfere with my wedding.  I think my advice is to start looking now.  If you were to find something right away, you’d will probably have been at the company (or wherever) for long enough to request time off for your wedding.

HiI’m not but Fiance is. He hates his job, I hate his job. He’s miserable there. But it just doesn’t make sense to start a new job while planning wedding. Money. Time off.

It’ll just be a logistical nightmare.I plan to really push him to start looking after our Honeymoon.

ETA: Good point. Maybe Iwe’ll start looking for him in a couple months because he wouldn’t be able to start till probably October.

Well, I graduate in May and will definately be looking for a Full-time job ASAP. I’m hoping to start well before my Sept 3 wedding date, but I’m also hoping that wherever hires me lets me negociate my time off for the wedding at hire. *crosses her fingers*

I was doing a nationwide job search during wedding planning.  It was incredibly stressful and it didn’t wrap up until 2 months after the wedding.  In my line of work, you have to interview about a year ahead of when you want to start your new position, so in the interim we also got pregnant, will have a baby and finish maternity leave all before I actually start the job.  Whew, I am tired!

I was in that boat.  I was unemployed and looking for a job when Fiance proposed.  It was hard to focus on my job search when I had a wedding to plan!

Now I’m dealing with balancing the learning curve that comes with a new job with wedding planning.  Since I new, I don’t feel like I can sneak out early or come in late or take a long lunch when I need to meet with vendors.

I started the new job in Novemeber, but I haven’t been able to take any vacation (I’m saving it all for the wedding and honeymoon).

Hang in there!

Yes!  I have been out of a job for 10 of the 13 months we have been engaged.  Next month is our wedding and in June I lose my unemployment benefits. My fiance is very successful at his career and we just bought a house but the market we live in just has so little in my field.  I was actually told in an interview the other day that there were over 1,000 applicants for 1 position!

I just keep praying this will get better but I am very scared and worried.

Yes, we are also. Both my fiance and I were laid off in May, so we have both been out of work for almost a year. Worst part is we had a baby and bought a house just months before we lost our jobs, we never dreamed we’d both be unemplyed. So now our wedding is postponed til we have work again.

@Champagne Wishes – I know what you mean…I’m a banker and for every interview I go on, they are also interviewing atleast 20 other people and most of them are managers that are stepping down to lower positions to get work, so it looks like I’m going to have to step down also… to a teller, then my pay drops from $3000+/month to about $1500/month 🙁
