I wouldn't. I honestly just don't like plastic surgery, but to each their own!
I don't think that I would honestly do it. I like the way that I look when I am naturally toned and thin but not with the fat sucked out of me!
Any surgery comes with health risks, and for me, those risks just aren't worth taking for vanity's sake. Although I don't like several of my body parts, I would never get plastic surgery.
idk if I would ever go through with it, but I've always wanted lipo of my chin/neck.
And by the way, I'm not against it. My mom had a breast reduction and a tummy tuck and she loved them!
I am totally a "to each her own" type of girl on the plastic surgery thing; I personally am not a fan of plastic surgery on the face, I really think that my face is my identity and I wouldn't want to change it. I also am not a fan of the facial anti-aging surgeries (even though my friends are already getting them and we're not in our 30s yet!). I might consider getting some sort of tummy procedure after I have kids though, and if I had big boobs (which I don't) I would think about a breast lift later in life.
Just a warning about lipo: I worked with a girl who got her thighs lipoed, and now when she gains weight she gains it in the weirdest places, like her upper back ... she now says she wishes she never got it!
I've had breast augmentation to take me from an A cup to C cup, I'm pretty happy with everything else. If someone offered me free lipo suction I wouldn't refuse, but I'm trying to work out to get the same results for less :)
Maybe after we were done having children? I wouldn't rule it out, but it's not something I want.
For me, the only thing I would REALLY like to fix is my jawline/chin area. My chin recedes while most people's actually lines up with their upper plate. It gives me a strange looking profile and causes me a lot of self-esteem issues :(
To answer your question, the pain/money issue would not be the biggest deal for me. I have actually seriously thought about trying to save up the money for it so I can get it someday. The fear factor for ME would be whether I would wake up from the anesthesia or not. The idea of going under scares me to death (ha!) and I'm afraid I would be allergic or they'd give me too much or some other CRAZY 1 in 100,000,000 chance.
I'm having breast reduction done in 6 weeks (and counting). It's something I've wanted to do for a LONG time and the wedding finally made me realise that I should do this for myself now instead of putting it off for a few more years. Other than that, I don't think I'd have anything else done. I think most things that can be lipo'd out can also be exercised out!
My great grandmother, my grandmother and my mother had the fat deposits over their eyelids removed. Their eye lids would sag over their eyes(droopy eyes). If I am next then I will definately get this done.
I would also like to get my boobs picked up after kids if I need it.
Nothing pre-wedding though.
I'm pretty happy with my body, but in a few years I plan on getting a breast augmentation. Right now I'm an A, and I'd like to be a C. If any other bees have had their breasts augmented, I'd love to hear your story and advice. I'd love a PM.
Always thought I'd never get anything done. Was even a bit against it. However, if after having children, I'm very unhappy about how my tummy looks, maybe I'll have some work done... I train hard right now and am happy with my body and after years of struggling with body image issues, I don't want it to change...
Since my mom gained like 90 pounds in the last 3 months of her pregnancy, following a strict diet and exercising and could do nothing about it, and was never able to get back into good shape... I figure that I might not have genetics on my side, so at least there's surgeons! Hopefully not though.
The ONLY thing I would remotely consider is a tummy tuck if my stomach had issues returning to it's pre-baby size. I like it the way it is now, thank you. I know I'm dreaming big, but I'd like to bounce back like Heidi Klum and I'm willing to work hard for it, so hopefully I can avoid this whole issue!
If money was no issue, I might have a breast reduction. Normal clothes don't fit and nothing cute comes in a 32H :(
I am going to get a rhinoplasty. In the end, the change won't be too dramatic. I have a hump on my nose I want removed. I'm very insecure about my facial profile because of it and it's something I don't want to see in our wedding photos.
I had my breast aug 2 months ago and I love it and don't regret a thing. I don't think there is anything else that I want to do but if there was then I'd do it. I dye my hair, I wear makeup....I really don't see the diff between that and having plastic surgery done.
a lot :) lol nothing i would go through with though. Lipo my chin/neck (im not even fat, its just genetic), my nose (less pointy? Lol), and maybe lipo my love handles.i guess thats not really too much, compared tp heidi anyway lol
I don't like the idea of being cut up, but I will consider a few minor "repairs" after I have kids (ie: tummy tuck, breast lift, and botox). I'm all about botox.
I wouldn't do anything that would "change" my features too much. I think I would focus more on maintenance as I get older.
About the only thing I would consider is spiffying up the boobs post-children. I'm not very inclined to but my husband's friend did it, loved it and put the idea into his head. I'm not sure it would have occured to me. Who knows. We'll see what kind of havok munchkins wreak on them first. :-)
Didn't read any of the comments but I DO know that drooping eyelids are often covered by insurance - my mom had then and because they impaired her vision, insurance paid for her to have them tacked up! If they're affecting your life (other than your self esteem/perception), talk to your doctor about it and see if they're covered.
I do believe in plastic surgery. But I think that we can get obsessed with looking perfect. Heidi is an example of someone who made too many tweaks and now looks like a completely different 40 year old woman. I say if you're going to do it, pick 2 things TOPS! Otherwise you run the risk of changing the way you look, in a bad way.
I too have droopy eyes, and I will get them fixed when I turn 40. But some celebrities with this condition are Jennifer Anniston, Britney Spears, and Katie Holmes. These ladies are gorgeous, even though they have chubby upper eye areas.
I have had my breast done to go from a training bra (literally and I'm 23), to a nice normal C cup! And I love them! They give you so much confidence, and clothes fit you so much better and look so much better on you! Before, I just looked like a boy!
I am planning to get the girls done in the next couple years. It is something that I have wanted for years because it would make ME happy. I want to do it for me, no one else. I only want to go from a small C to a full D, nothing too drastic.
I don't think that there is anything else I would get done, honestly. I plan to age gracefully. I will have earned my wrinkles by the time I get them and I will wear them proudly. They will be a testament to a life well-lived.
There are things I would like to change about my appearance, but I don't think I could justify the money or risks of plastic surgery. I think the case of Heidi Montag is so sad...she was so beautiful before all of her surgeries, and now she looks constructed and fake.
Emshaw - I had a breast reduction/lift 2 months ago after years of wanting one and I AM SO HAPPY I did it finally. I'm sure you will be too. Now I'm just bummed I waited so long (and wish I had done it before the wedding so half my photos would not be of my girls hanging out!).
Good Luck!
These are my criteria for supporting plastic surgery:
A: The woman has some feature that is significantly objectively outside the norm (e.g., very large or very small chest for her frame).
B: The woman experiences significant medical and/or psychological issues (e.g., pain, low self-confidence) with regard to this feature.
C: The feature cannot be changed in some other less invasive or less costly way (e.g., diet and exercise).
I would not have plastic surgery on myself at this point in my life because I don't meet my own criteria. Nothing on my body is that out of the ordinary, and while I am dissatisfied with some things, I can make those changes through less costly and invasive methods like diet and exercise.
I think problems arise when women have very narrow perceptions of what is normal, have very low thresholds for perceiving medical/psychological issues in themselves (perhaps low self-esteem all around), and/or put little importance on matters of cost or medical risk. Heidi Montag seems to be a triple threat: She was already gorgeous by anyone's standard (Criterion A), but she was convinced she needed all these changes such that her self-confidence was shot without them (Criterion B), and she did not balk at having 10 operations at once at the age of 23 (Criterion C). In my opinion she looks like some sort of crazy Barbie Glamazon now. I think she should have gone to therapy, not plastic surgery.
After I am done having kids...I would definitely get a tummy tuck. I am one of those women who has the dreaded "baby pouch". After giving birth to my daughter, I was able to get everything back the way it was except for that pouch. I HATE it...I have had no less than 3 doctors tell me that there is no way for me to get rid of it naturally so tummy tuck it is.
the one thing I would get fixed is my nose-- it got broken when I was younger, and I've got this big bump because of it-- but that's all :)
i can go without it... and im deathly afraid of being put under... and going under the knife... but if i ever had the guts...
i'd get a tummy tuck and breast lift after i was done having kids... and lipo if needed.
I'm ALL about getting things fixed...but also, trust a close family/friend's opinion. If my mom or husband ever said, "no, you don't need it", I'd really listen. But my mom would also be like, "yeah your boobs are saggy, get them lifted!". She's honest with me and I know I could trust her to give me an honest opinion and i'd go with that.
I would get a chin tuck, or lipo. Double chins run in my family no matter how thin you are. It sucks!
I would love to have bigger boobs, but they're a B-cup so it's not an extreme need. I don't think I would have a breast augmentation done. However, I totally intend to start up Botox treatments in 15 years or so when I feel like I need them. I don't see anything wrong with a little wrinkle-reduction!
I think some plastic surgery is ok. I think Heidi Montag on the other hand went completely overboard and looks like a freak!
If I had the money and wasn't worried about the pain I would get bigger boobs! I used to be a 34C. Then I got sick and lost a lot of weight causing my boobs to get a whole size smaller! I feel like they sag and I just want my boobs back! Since there is a very little chance I will gain the weight back I would def get a boob job.
nope. not me. what is something went wrong?! but honestly, i'd never have plastic surgery unless it was to cover up a bad injury.
I'm not even planning for kids yet, but am already assuming I will get a "mommy makeover." I really want a tiny bit of lipo now, but can't see myself getting it when it'll be ruined in a few years (after kids) and I'll just have to get it done again.
I think that plastic surgery can be a great thing, but I'm also in the group that is kind of freaked out by facial surgery. I don't think I would ever get anything done there. It's just too scary! But yes to tummy tuck, lipo and breast lift after babies!
Given the economy plastic surgeons are negotiating prices. If you decide to do anything- ask if there is a discount-
I used to want lipo, but then I researched it a bit more. I'd rather keep my fat where it is than see it come back in a completely awkward area. The only thing I'd consider is having an arm tuck. Mine are a bit flabby due to genetics. But even that is a bit up in the air since I'm starting to feel more confident about them.

How much plastic surgery is too much? If you had the money and time to recover- would you ever get as many operations as Heidi Montag?
In a dream world of no pain and no money issue, here's what I'd have done:
lipo of stomach, cheeks, and chin/neck, rhinoplasty and eye lid surgery (i have my mother and grandmother's droopy eyes and I'm only 30!)
Would any other bees get something done before the big day?
Perhaps I've been watching too many Extreme Makeover (plastic surgery edition) rereuns.
