We are doing this too! My mom and I did a mockup and I love how it looks. Unfortunately I don't have any inspiration pictures, but I of course think its a great idea.
I love that fabric, too, but I think in your setting it might be a little informal. Just my opinion though. Great colors!
this is what we are doing too - no photos yet but my Aunt is going to make the runners.
we are going to have 3 types I think - stripes and 2 block colours
they'll be quite narrow - well, 8 inches perhaps
I'd like to see some pictures of where someone has done this
@danielle: i hear ya on the 'might be too informal' comment. Trouble is: what is a 'formal' fabric...that isn't damask or metallic drapery fabric??! I'm having the darndest time choosing colours and a fabric for this room! There are many English chintzy fabrics (heavy on the floral) that could work, but then if we use such a fabric and also put flowers on the table, it'll be floral overload. Hmmm. I'll have to have a think and of course keep searching :)
I can't tell if these are runners or if the tablecloth is just made that way, but here is a photo from our venue. I'm pretty sure its just a tablecloth. If you could actually find tablecloths made this way, it might save you money over having a runner for every 2 settings.
No pics, but I love the idea! The fabric seems a little casual for your venue, (but that could be because of how the fabric and venue show in a photograph).
Found a picture! (Leave it to Martha :) See the table runners?
Because of this picture, I am now considering this colour scheme. Yellow. White. Green. Black. Love the little black vase. Not so sure about the box it's sitting on (though does introduce a pattern / texture to the whole 'look').
Hmm, yes, this might work. Oh but wait, sister doesn't want to wear yet another yellow dress as a bridesmaid. Sigh.
Need to talk to Mr Farmerfen (who is now set on navy, light blue and yellow, which I think could work but somehow to me navy seems less formal than black...)
@farmerfen - THat's beautiful! I love the flowers and the table runners.
I love the black, yellow and white. The look is very clean and airy feeling, most people think black will be too harsh but not when it is done right. It is also nice to see black used and it not be damask. I love damask dont get me wrong i just like seeing a variety with the black and white color.

Hi bees,
Our reception will be held in a very large formal dining hall with wooden walls and white, white table linens (see pic below). Am starting to think about how we might introduce some colour onto the tables themselves. Initially I thought about using table runners in 'normal' table runner fashion, right the way down the centre of the tables. But now I'm considering doing shorter runners and running them plate-to-plate (or more precisely lap-to-lap).
Has anyone seen pictures of this? I'd be most grateful for some visual inspiration?
Also: comments on using this fabric in this setting are also welcomed.
