    Hey bees!

We just went through the awesome fun of picking out wedding bands last weekend!  I absolutely LOOOVE mine & my fiance picked out the most classic and awesome wedding band as well.

We bought his in White Gold but I'm considering surprising him with a Platinum "upgrade."  I'm not much for metals and don't know what the recommendation is for this - I feel like I've heard mixed reviews:  is it worth the extra cost?  Just curious if any of you bees are familiar with metals enough to help me out with this one!

Groomie doesn't care about the metal - it was just going to be a "nice" surprise.

    Let me know! :)

We did platinum for his band because mine was platinum and liked the idea that they went together, even though they didn't look the same.  I don't like the idea of replating and the upkeep on a white gold ring, but maybe i'm just overestimating it :)

We aren't doing either. We are going for yellow gold for our rings :-)

His ring is palladium, which is like platinum in appearance, but much lighter in weight. Platinum is really heavy, if he's tried on and chosen a white gold ring, there will be a noticeable difference in the weight if you opt for platinum. My husband thought platinum was too heavy.

His is two toned - white and yellow gold.  It looks great!

we arent doing either - hes getting a Cobalt ring :)

theres a big difference between platinum and gold. depending on the carat of gold, it wears different and one is MUCH easier to upkeep. plus if something happens to a gold ring, big deal get another, if you mess up a platinum ring, you will be hurtin financially! lol

so choose wisely - i would suggest finding out why he prefered the gold over platinum?

FH also wants a Tungston! Whatever you buy check out overstock first! They are SOOOO much cheaper. FH's ring at the store was 400ish and 60 on overstock! for the SAME thing!

We knew we weren't doing white gold. I tried to get him to go for platinum, but he wanted Tungsten.

My ring is platinum. We looked at the pros and cons of platinum versus whtie gold, and platinum was the winner. (White gold needs replated from time to time. Gold loses metal when scratched while platinum just displaces the metal when scratched so it can be buffed out. And I like the "heft" of platinum, it's heavier than gold.)

We actually are thinking of going a different route. Most likely, we will get either a tungsten or titanium ring. My FI is allergic to palladium and gold, so we can't get him any type of jewelry like that.
