Hi, i’m from the UK and the prices are very similar to you in Australia (expensive!). I am also looking to get a plain platinum band. The prices I’ve been quoted in a couple of jewellers is £800. That’s just for a plain band, no diamonds! Out of curiosity I asked how much a white gold band would be and they were £350ish. That’s quite a difference lol but my engagement ring is platinum so I’ll have to pay for platinum. My anniversary band is going to be in palladium to save money

Engaged in Paris:  hello have you tried online. I know Blue Nile have some plain platinum bands for much cheaper than the price you’ve been quoted. Also, 77 Diamonds, Serendidpity Diamonds…might be worth taking a look as I’m sure you can get them cheaper. Good luck I hope you find one!

MsKaren:  I have had a look online but the style of ring i want doesn’t seem to be that popular so I’ve had a hard time finding it. Also I’m quite specific in that i want a 2.5mm so it matches the sides of my engagement ring (I like things to match haha). So getting it custom made is possibly the route I’ll have to go

Half my message was cut off. This is the band I’m thinking of getting but not with the diamonds in

Engaged in Paris:  oh that’s beautiful! Sadly no I don’t think Blue Nile have anything like that. Hmm maybe try an independent jeweller who might be able to make one at a reasonable price or look on Etsy. I hope you find something. £800 does seem a little bit steep however it is your wedding band and you’ll wear it for the rest of your life so maybe worth the spend. Wishing you lots of luck, let us see what you get when you get it 🙂

I doubt any physical stores actually stock size 4?  Stores around me (US) tend to only stock the “average” size 7.

Most places have to create the size 4.  It’s not held in stock as it’s not an “average” or common size.  My size, size 3 has to be created everytime I want a ring (from a jewelry store) because it’s not a readily  available size.

Annalee3970:  I have been quoted $1200AU for my platinum band (needs a slight cut out for my ering to sit flush) size L. MY FIs will cost $1800 (can’t remember his size)

We got that same quote from 3 different jewellers here in Adelaide. Nt sure of the thinckness you are looking at or if you are talking getting it made or buying ready-made, but I think you have a good price there.

Just remember, if you buy one already made and have to have it reduced, go to a jeweller who specialises in platinum. It gets done differently than gold, and you will have a colour difference if not done right. I made that mistake with my ering.  This is why we are having custom ours made to fit.

Annalee3970:  My ring width is a 2.5mm, and I was quoted nearly $900 for platinum, which is why we went with white gold.  So it wouldn’t surprise me if some did quote that high.  Like the pp above me said, make sure you get your correct size.  It’s hard to resize platinum once it’s been created.
