Oh my god. I just DVRed some episodes of this show & am watching it for the first time. I repeat. Oh my god. Where do these people come from??? I want to know what they all do for a living. A 500,000 budget?!?! What?

Sorry, I am just having serious sticker shock & wondering how people have so much money. This show is crazy!

Haha! I know! A few months ago I watched an episode where a bride had like 5 dress changes. 5!!! I'm all for throwing a good party but 5 dresses in one day???

I always think I wouldn't spend that kind of money (even if I had) it on a wedding... and then I think of my dinky DJ versus the couple that hired the singer from Gipsy Kings to play at their wedding. ;) Yeah, I'd spend it if I could, but it would almost all go to the entertainment!

Haha - Oh I know. FI used to put that on "for me" while he was playing his game and I was the same way. He would even watch and just be floored with the way everything looked and nearly had a heart attack when they would say how much something cost!

It's just as easy to marry a rich man as it is a poor man.

I do with they would say what the people who host Platinum Weddings do for a living. What kind of jobs can you make that kind of money in!?

@Miss Pizzelle: No it isn't. There are more poor men than rich men. Wink

I say, don't even worry about finding a rich man - work on becoming a rich woman and taking care of yourself (whatever "rich" means to you of course).

Besides, some of the things on Platinum Weddings type of shows - who would even want them?  Too much bling at some of these events for my taste - and my taste is pretty expensive!

OH how I love that show... They're all way too big and elaborate for my personal taste but they LOOK AMAZING!  ugh... and assuming you can change the scale, they have some great ideas!  :-)

Oh my gosh! I love watching that show, but at the same time it's utterly ridiculous and I can't help but laugh. Yes, let's spend $10,000 for a 10 minute Cirque du Soleil peformance. $100,000 for centerpieces! A million costume changes for the bride! It's totally unbelievable. Their weddings seem like a performance rather than a heart-felt event. An amazing and beautiful performance, but still. Not for me.

But hey, if you have the money and that's your taste, then go for it! And then invite me! ;)

Yeah, I think it's ridiculous -- but it's fun to watch! Thankfully, extravagant and over-the-top weddings aren't my thing so it's not like I'll be seeing something I want. But yes, I do definitely think it's funny when the bride spends more on her dress(es) than I will on the entire wedding (honeymoon included)!!

Also, like Powderpuff said, if you're gonna throw a wedding like that -- invite me!!

I can't watch that show. It seriously makes me sick to my stomach. I've also been finding it hard to watch Say Yes to the Dress lately. I love watching it to see different styles of dresses, but sometimes the attitudes just piss me off - like brides that complain that their mother won't go above $3000 - then pay for the difference yourself if you just HAVE to have it.

I stopped watching that show months ago because I find it the opposite of weddings should be about, which is celebrating the love of the couple. Of course your wedding should be a great party and you want your  guests to have a blast, but you don't need to spend $500k in order to do so! Even if I won the lottery tomorrow I wouldn't change my wedding plans.

I watch it and marvel at the amount of money some of these couples are willing to spend on what amounts to some sticks jammed in a vase with crystals draped over them....totally ridiculous. It's nice entertainment though...

Yes, that show is nice to take a nap to. Hahaha.

And I really like Say Yes to the Dress but I will agree, some of those women are ridiculous. It always makes me cry when they get married though! :)
