personally, I don’t really like how black and brown look together, ever. Isn’t there even some fashion rule about that?

So, if it were me, I would just stick with purple and black everything.

Are you wanting the guys in tuxes?

If not can’t you just ask them to wear brown pants with the rented brown vests? You can get a pair of brown trousers from JCPenny for like $30. Then you could stick with your theme. I’m not fond of the idea of brown vests and black pants.

@red_rose: Black and Brown are both nuetral and therefore go together. That’s the only fashion rule. (I used to watch a lot of what not to wear)

My girls wore lapis and gold shoes 🙂 Kind of stays within the brown family as well. Our guys didn’t wear any vests.

Seeing the image of black and brown together makes it look nice.  Guys could wear black tuxes with brown vests and ties.  Bouts could be purple.  Ladies could wear purple dresses and I’m saying black shoes because they will be less of a headache to to find, and bouquets can incorporate all brown and purples.  You could also do accessories for BMs in black/brown, say a sash or hairpiece or something like that.

I dont understand why people say brown and black dont go together… I own a lot of shoes and bags that have a mix of black and brown

That picture makes the idea of black and brown look better than what I had envisioned in my head, but I still think you should go with a purple vest and black pants. It will add a pop of color to the boys, I think the brown/black combo looks a bit drab.

Brown and black do go together. I just don’t like the combination for weddings. It looks very dingy and collegiate to me–like an old professor with a dark gray coat with brown suede elbow patches. I’m sure it can be done well, but it’s hard to do.
