I wanted to get an outside opinion about my menu. My fiance thinks its great but I’m wondering if I should add something to make the meal more substantial. My fiance disagrees because the meal will be served at 4:00pm. Opinions please!
Sliced barbecue brisket
potatoes eunice (A creamy casserole of shredded potatoes and cheese)
and assorted bread and rolls
Dessert will be cake and cupcakes
Drinks include: tea, coffee, water and beer and wine

Maybe another side but other then that sounds yummy to me!

Do you have any vegetarians coming, and if so, what’s your vegetarian option?
I’d also have another 1-2 side dishes; the potato dish sounds quite rich, not everyone likes cream and cheese, so I’d have another couple of dishes to go with it personally.

That is a great menu as long as you know there are no vegetarians attending!

I agree with others…a vegetarian dish and 1 or 2 other side dishes would be good.

I will have two vegetarians. I was thinking of doing pasta primavera for them.
As for another side I’m thinking asparagus tips or macaroni and cheese. Thanks for your input.

I think it sounds great. I would definitely add the asparagus tips. I feel like even though potatoes are vegetables you still need some type of green veggie(even though you have salad)

@imanw: I would do asparagus tips or even like a garlic(?) green beans…definitely something green. I think the mac and cheese with cheesy potatoes will be to much cheesy… IF that is possible

Agree with PPs, the only thing I would add is a vegetable side dish

I would add one more vegetable side but it sounds yummy. Do you have any vegetarians coming?

I would add another veggie like corn

i agree with PP’s about veggies. green beans or asparagus would be good.
my Fiance loves brisket, so he’d be thrilled with that menu. also, those potatoes sound amazing (:

Cole slaw or baked beans are always a good possible sides for brisket.

My main suggestion is also adding more side options.. I think pasta primavera might be weird with a bbq type meal.. I would maybe just add more sides and the vegeterians can just make a “veggie plate” of sorts.. I think Mac and Cheese is to much cheese.. i’d do the potatoes, another hot vegetable (like you said asparagus or even green beans) and maybe something like Baked Beans (just make sure these are vegeterian, a lot of green beans are cooked with pork or pork fat), coleslaw, maybe a pasta salad/macaronia salad instead of mac and cheese even?

@imanw: Where are the veggies? I think it sounds super yummy, but way too heavy for where I live. Maybe add a couple of sides to lighten it up?
