I recently got engaged and went threw almost every single ring (i wanted to use as my wedding ring also)at the store, and finally we choose a 1C 10 diamond stone 14k white gold princess cutt ring.. being the store closed on 20 mins the store gave us a great deal of approx. $1500. (basically 2 years for monthly payments) being rushed not knowing really not alot about rings being 18 and my fiancee 20 we were so excited we have finally got the ring of my dreams that we forgot the MOST IMPORTANT thing of all!! Can anyone guess what it is!??!? we forgot to get the ring insured!! :( :( so a week past, me and my fiancee decided to go on an adventure hiking next to a river.. well needless to say it was a VERY hot day and the river looked like a million dollars.. i went in the river it being alittle rafty in places.. she SLOWLY joined me.. as im enjoying the water she SCREAMS "snake snake help me help me somethings biting me!!" i try to grab her and get her out of the water as im moving my way grabbing onto rocks on the bottom trying to rush to her my poor beautiful $1500 uninsured ring fell off my finger................... me crying. her crying. searched for about an hour as we fight w. eachother her yelling at me maybe its a sign (we fought earlier that day and i didnt even want to go to the river in the FIRST place.. while all along i had a bad feeling it my gut to begin w.). Its been lost for about a month now.. Im thinking about renting an under water metal detector because i still have this weird feeling that its somewhere along the side of the river. any suggestions of what i should do!?!? it would be greatly appreciated.. :(

Are you wearing the ring in your picture?

I would personally probably give up and buy another.

I'm so sorry this happened to you, but maybe this is a great way for your FI to go ring shopping alone and surprise you with it !

Do you have home/condo/tenant's insurance? The ring should be covered under there. Do you live with your parents? Do they have insurance? If so the ring should be covered under their insurance.

I'm a claim's adjuster and there is coverage for jewellery on nearly every personal lines policy but there's usually a limit and a deductible.

@punky_brewster: no i got kicked out at 18 and had EVERYTHING cut off from me. had a job and everything.. had to quit my job fit whatever i could in my jeep and whatever fit in there thats all i could bring. my parents are very strict about the 18 your on your own law.. :/ i wasnt even a bad kid or anything.. got a's in high school graduated HS. had a full time job paid $200 in groceries every other week.. no partying nothing.. sucks................... soooo right now i live under my fiancee's parents roof. they had bought a house for her sister to go to school and also to rent out the rest of the rooms so were staying here rent free cause my fiancee is going to school to be an RN. we were going to so the whole make a police statement saying the ring got stolen and make a police report so that JBR would reward us w a ring.. but we rather just own up and not lie w the law.. i really want to get a metal detector and search the area.. it could be stuck under a rock, you never know.. it could be ALLLL the way on the other side of Indiana.. lol thanks for all the help.. still mourning over the loss :(

Ok I am glad you are not going to file a police report and lie, even so I do not think JBR would give you a ring based on that. I would rent a MD but if there is any type of current, it could drift, I am sorry, not trying be a barer of bad news. My question is, was it sized ok? Honestly, your ring should not fall off that easily. Getting it insured, which you do not have to go through the jewlery store to do so as we insured mine after appraisal and such is definetly a must. I am so sorry this happened, but next time you are hiking or any water sports, it is ok to leave the ring at home. :) We hike and camp all the time and honestly I do not wear my rings for either just to be safe. Good luck, I hope you find it!

@MissGreen: thats what they told us to do.. but i think to get it insured they would need to see the ring first and.. haha we dont have the ring.. so yeah.. it was indeed sized ok.. just when you have moving water its like putting butter inbetween your ring and finger and it slidding off.. theres a part of me that believes its still there and theres part of me that says just let it go.. cause you know it rains, and things of that nature in which the river would rise and fall pushing the ring down the river.. yeah def. will not do this again!! i would of never lost it if i wasnt rushing to save my DYING fiancee lol... :) things happen.. part of life.. thanks for the help guys.. :)

They told you to file a false report? Hmm, my hubs is a cop and a false report could land you into bigger trouble. Um, sorry I knew you did not have the ring, just reinterating the insurance thing as a must. Did not grab from your OP that your FI was dying in any way, just saying a lesson learned. Sorry!

Well at this point, you don't have much to lose.. if you offer a reward, hopefully someone will find it and return it to you. But I understand you'd be nervous about it. Maybe go look yourself with a MD and THEN post it?

@vanxoxo: That Craigslist ad isn't for the same ring, it's for one with a band of round stones (probably pave, from the description) and a center larger princess cut stone.

    Sorry you lost your ring!

I think you should look for it asap. The longer you wait, the least likely it is for you to find it. Can you go with a friend if your FI won't go with you?

Also, I wouldn't post your ring on craigslist til YOU've looked for your ring where you lost it. Someone could read it, go on a hike & find it. I'd say post it up after you've had a chance to look for it first.

so... we got into a huge fight over "THE LOST RING".. and i basically called off the engagement.. and broke up with her. i just don't understand how you can love someone SO much and treat them like complete dirt at the same time.. especially when you want to marry them and spend the rest of your life with them. :(

    i don't deserve this..

    :(

You're Not Sorry By Taylor Swift

All this time I was wasting,
    Hoping you would come around
I've been givin' out chances every time
And all you do is let me down
And it's taken me this long baby
    But I figured you out
And you think it would be fine again
    But not this time around

You don't have to call anymore
I won't pick up the phone
    This is the last straw
    Don't wanna hurt anymore
And you can tell me that you're sorry
But I don't believe you baby,
    Like I did before
    You're not sorry.
    Oh no, no, no.

    Looking so innocent,
I might believe you if I didn't know
Could've loved you all my life
If you hadn't left me waitin' in the cold
And you got to share your secrets
And I'm tired of being last to know
And now you're asking me to listen
Cause it's worked each time before

But you don't have to call anymore
I won't pick up the phone
    This is the last straw
    Don't wanna hurt anymore
And you can tell me that you're sorry
But I don't believe you baby,
    Like I did before
    You're not sorry.
    No, no, Oh.
    You're not sorry.
    No, no, Oh.

You had me crawling for you honey
And it never would have gone away, no
You used to shine so bright,
    But watched our love fade

So you don't have to call anymore
I won't pick up the phone
    This is the last straw
There's nothing left to beg for
And you can tell me that you're sorry
But I don't believe you baby,
    Like I did before
    You're not sorry.
    No, no, Oh.
    You're not sorry.
    No, no. Oh.

I don't think you'd be wasting your time looking. If it were me, I'd go back, even if alone. Bring a flashlight cause the diamonds will reflect from the light (maybe you have an underwater one) & an underwater mask/snorkel thing.

Was it in the middle of the river with a strong current? Or closer to the edge? Or do you have any idea?

I'd go back and look for it. You have nothing to lose by looking and if you don't look, you definitely won't find it. Either way you're still going to have to pay it off.

yeah i never thought about bringing a flashlight good thinking! and i saw on a website use a sifter.. but its mainly rocks on the bottom of the river. its not like rushing waters its like something ducks swim down on.. theres alittle bit of a current and the river stretches about 60 feet wide and we were about 25 feet in.. so not all the way in not all the way out.. but the prob. is i think its still under a rock there cause after it fell off my finger we were picking up rocks like no other and throwing them back down.. so... and to kate yeah i know its TWO years we have to pay off.. thats a LONG time you know.. i rather have the ring and pay it off then have to worry about it for those two years let alone the rest of my life.. without atleast attempting to look for it.. :/ thanks guys for all of your help you guys have some really good tips and concerns :)

You are a 19 year old lesbian. Now you say you two broke up. You start every post with "yeah". You don't sound very mature to me. Go home and tell mom and dad you still need them. You will pay them rent and get  your life in order. A lost ring is the least of your worries. Sorry if I sound harsh, but threads like these are silly.

First off, your nothing but completely IGNORANT. What does me being a lesbian have anything to do with it? and I'm 18 thank you. Theres no age limit for love. (anyone TRUELY in love would understand that). There is people in there 40's that still fight as if they are teenagers. You don't even know me. You've never met me before once in your life, so please before you start telling me that i don't sound "very mature"  why don't you check yourself first because no one in their complete right state of mind would even write a post like you did above me. My parents do not want me back what don't you understand about that? I am not welcome to have any part of their lives anymore and if you knew my parents you would understand, but in this case you do not. I know for a fact that Canadian parents and American parents are NOTHING alike so please do not assume anything that is not in your position to begin with. If posts like these are silly then why read them if you have no interest in the first place? Its kinda obvious you have nothing else better to do with your life then pick on a "19 year old LESBIAN" as  you would say in your own words. Hope you have a nice day, and I'm always here if you need someone to talk to or if you just need someone to pull that stick thats so deeply lodged up into your ass. Your American Friend, Savannah.

@vanxoxo: I was one of the first people to comment on your OP but then this thread just got silly. And being 18 is even worse. You have no business in the first place even marrying. I'm sorry you have such dickhead parents. Does your lesbianism have anything to do with the fact that they don't want you around? You also need to really correct your grammar to start sounding more mature.

And no, I guess love is love no matter who cupid hits with his arrow. But love is not breaking up the engagement as you said you did in a previous post above. It's really not.

@OttawaBride2011: Maybe, but why is everyone humoring this girl? I thought this was a site for serious brides. And I was personally attacked this morning for no good reason, so I guess if you want to be part of the Bee, you have to be ready for the truth. The truth is, this girl is rebelling. She doesn't look like a lesbian from her Avatar and what parents in their right mind kick out a straight A student just because she reached a certain age? It's all very fishy. Maybe one day when OP realizes I am right, she will be grateful.

@bee-gotten: Any point you are trying to "maturely" make is completely ruined by your focus on this girl's personal life, of which you know very little about. You certainly don't know the truth about her, so how can you say "truth is".  And "she doesn't look like a lesbian" is just as laughable as when she told you that Canadian parents are very different from American parents. Way to generalize, ladies.

@bee-gotten - my biological parents kicked me out & I was an A student (well B in some studies). I didn't do anything wrong. Some parents just aren't great parenters. I have friends who have been kicked out because they were 18 & the parents didn't want them in the house. We don't drink, do drugs, do anything illegal. Also, I have 2 friends get engaged in 3 months, all 19 (well they were 19/20 & their FIs are 19/20). So crazy cause one of them happened 2 days ago. Anyways, maybe you think the OP is immature & you are entitiled to your opinion. But attacking her & insulting her isn't right.

@bee-gotten: You've got to be kidding me. She doesn't "look" like a lesbian? That has got to be the largest display of bigotry I have heard in a long time.
