could someone please explain to me the difference between a bridal belt and a sash? Pictures would be great! Google shows me belts that look like sashes and I really can’t tell the difference…
Here in Germany sashes a rather uncommon but I have a feeling that won’t be for long 🙂

up to my knowledge and I stand to be corrected, a belt has no loose ends it, while a sash has, i.e. a sash needs to be tied up with a bow or something

Zimtstern: I believe pp is right… in German sash translates to “Schärpe”, “Bauchbinde” so that explains how it’s tied a different way than a belt with a buckle / clasp is…

I may be wrong, but I think a sash is a plain satin thing and a belt has beading/fabric flowers on it. I’ve seen belts with loose ends that you tie in the back. And I’ve had people ask me to sew the ends of a sash into the zipper or lace up back. I’ve NEVER seen anything (that’s made for a wedding dress) that has a clasp on it in the back, mostly because everybody has a different waist measurement so it needs to be adjustable.

Zimtstern: Belts are typically fastened while sashes are typically tied.
