We lost a furry family member this morning. I hate to call her a “pet” because we didn’t really see her as such. She was my little sister and my mom’s other daughter and was pretty much always referred to that way. It’s so hard to accept that she’s gone but it was peaceful. The vet came to the house and the vet tech that came with her happens to be my cousin so she was as comfortable with her surroundings as possible. She was one of the best dogs, had many friends and loved everyone. She would go next door and drink a beer with the bachelor neighbor man in her younger days, made friends with the deer (watching them play was unbelievable), and always had presents under the tree at another neighbors house.
She was loyal, loving, caring, funny, and one of my best friends. It hurts so badly right now, but maybe that’s her pain she was in during her last days. I’ll happily take it if that means she doesn’t have to anymore.
So, please, give your furry family members a hug and kiss today because I can’t ever again.
I love you Meadow Rose.

@MsBeer: Thank you. It’s totally selfish of me, but the thought of people giving extra loving to their furry family members tonight helps.
It’s really amazing how even though they have shorter life spans, they whittle their way into your heart unbelievably deep. I’ve put many people (family, friends) into the ground, and this is one of the worst.

Im sooooo sorry sweetie! At least you were by her side and she she didn’t suffer. Please read this !! hope it helps
‘There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Her bright eyes are intent; her eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, her legs carrying her faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.’

;( so sorry!… It sounds like she lived a good life; I know what you mean by them being a member of the family; and that’s exactly how it should be.

@Brittanyvictoria7: I sure hope so!
She had this thing where she would find an article of clothing of someone that she was missing so we buried her with a pair of my sweat pants and one of my mom’s slippers. She spent her last days curled up with my sweatpants and mom on the ground with her for comfort.
Thank you again everyone!

@redheadedstranger: Oh hun, I’m so sorry 🙁 She looks like a beautiful, loving, furry family member. How wonderful for her though that she was able to spend her last moments in a familiar environment, surrounded by her people. I’m sure she felt all that love, peace, and comfort.
I’ll be sure to give extra snuggles to my pack tonight!
