We went to Excellence Playa Mujeres and it was amazing. We went to Chitzen Itca, snorkling at Isla Mujeres, they had a good night life atmosphere and we had a rooftop pool suite to relax in our own pool. I’d recommend it to anyone. My DH cannot sit still for 10 minutes especially if it’s hot but he had the time of his life there. I have always wanted to go to Croatia and Greece though! We ultimately decided not to do Europe for our honeymoon because we just wanted to relax and would have only been able to go for like 10 days so we’d be rushing to cram everything in. If you have more time I’d definitely go there.

What about a cruise from Venice to Croatia and Greece+Islands (or maybe Turkey as well)? The first time I got married ex-DH and I went on a MSC cruise for 8 days from Venice, stopped at Dubrovnik, Corfu, Athens, Rhodes, Mykonos, and Santorini. At the time my mom spent around 1k euros for both of us in 2010.

I agree with OmbreBee:

I am also getting married mid-May 2015 and we’re doing a Mediterranean cruise (Barcelona to Venice). So we’re going to Barcelona a couple days early and then staying in Italy for a few days after, and hitting a lot of the places we want to see as ports during the cruise (Monaco, Croatia, etc). I wanted to do this because I don’t want to have to worry about the logistics of travelling around, but yet I wanted to do a lot of things (we couldn’t sit on a beach for 2 weeks).

I haven’t been to Greece in years but it was my favorite trip ever. And I’ve travelled quite a bit. I definitely think you could do the  mix of beach + adventure that you’re looking for there.

CRiveraRN:  We went to Aruba. It was AMAZING and has everything you described. We’re going back for our first anniversary becasue we loved it so much. We did a jeep tour as our only excursion (wanted to just relax) but they have sunset cruises, horseback riding, snorkling, etc. They also have amazing restaurants on the island (expensive…but amazing).

CRiveraRN:  St.Lucia has beautiful hiking, zip lining, and adventure like you explained.  Nicaragua and Belize are also good options if you liked Costa Rica.

CRiveraRN:  Croatia is a beautiful place for a honeymoon! It is perfect if you like doing sightseeing and viewing some historical type things mixed in with active things. The beaches are absolutely beautiful, the shopping is amazing, the food is phenomenol and the people are extremely kind. The water is beautiful turquoise color and warm enough to swim in. I could not recommend it enough! I didn’t actually go on my honeymoon here (I haven’t gotten married yet), but I went on an 8 day cruise around a bunch of islands in Croatia and it was amazing!

CRiveraRN:  My SO and I just came back from a cruise! There was so much ungodly running around, we didn’t relax at all because of all the ports. We are definitely going back to St. Lucia out of it all! Let me know if you need any cruise tips- I’m a RN as well btw 🙂

We went to Hawaii (Kauai and Maui) and LOVED IT!!! It fits everything you mentioned 🙂 Kauai is more relaxed and romantic with not as much to do as the other islands so I would recommend Maui and Oahu for y’all!

CRiveraRN:  haha!! I worked a zillion overnight shifts in our ER to pay for the cruise- I HEAR YA!!! They’ve cut all of our overtime with our last contract negotiations, so I’m getting a second prn job at a smaller community ER that is known to have sluggish, quiet evenings to pay for things that I want for our wedding.

St. Lucia- there’s scuba diving, snorkeling, hiking, parasailing, jet skiing, volcano tour, mud baths, waterfalls, etc. I can’t just sit on a beach either!

The food was amazing with Celebrity cruises, and definitely get a room with a balcony mid-boat, up as high as you can so you don’t have to use those awful scopalamine patches. You don’t really need to spend the extra $$ on speciality restaurants on the boat because you eat all the time and even the food in the main dining room is esquisite. The drink package is definitely worth getting included. The only downfall was that maybe it was just my cruise, but there was a lot of old people on the boat. We haven’t experienced that kind of… population when we go to all-inclusive resorts.

What have you been thinking of lately? What does your partner want for the honeymoon?
