We recently moved the building next to us has a small dog that they let out early in the AM (around 5-6am) every morning and they just let it bark for over an hour. This wakes Darling Husband and I up and it is awful. It has to be bothering other people but our bedroom window is closest. He barks at other times of the day but I really dont mind, its a dog! But 5-6am is excessive! I also fear that he is maybe not getting the attention he needs 🙁
One more major problem, I dont know who is owner is. Its the building next to ours and I never see anyone with the dog. The building has about 4 units in it.
Should I write them a letter and put it on the main door? What should the letter say? Do I need to just wait to see someone with the dog and talk to them then? Its been over a month and I have never seen anyone with the dog.There is a second dog in the building but it is a big dog and it never barks during inappriate times…not even when the small dog barks

Can you find out who owns the building? I’d complain to the landlord and let him/her handle it.

ditto on complaining to the landlord

@bestbuddies: If you write a note it will probably end up on passiveaggressivenotes.com LOL I would talk directly to the person or the landlord. I would not bring up the part about attention…that could get ugly.

Oh, I could talk to the landlord! I met him once actually when we were looking at the place. I need to keep my eye out for him or maybe there is a sign on the building with their name and I can call or email. Thanks ladies! I can always count on you to think outside the box 😀
@MrsElopement: oh, I agree. 😀

I would complain to the landlord. Animal Services also works…they will usually put a note on the door for the first offense. Some leave a pamphlet with suggestions of things they can try, like training. The dog could or could not be getting attention, some dogs are just more yappy then others.
