I love to travel and would love to help you. What do you like to do ? Anywhere the two of you have dreamed of? Are you up for two nights at a beautiful resort and then youth hostils to cut costs and see more of a place?
Do you want museums or beaches?
With a budget of $3000, I think that the Caribbean is probably your best bet. Flights to Europe may take half your budget.
But again, depending on what you want to do, there are ways to do it "on the cheap".
My Fiance' and I are going to a 4 1/2 star all inclusive resort in Punta Cana for 6 nights for just under 3K. Check out www.cheapcaribbean.com
We love everything really. We just want to relax with a few activities thrown in. We would like to be gone a week.
@everyone, thank you for the ideas so far!
@speulie, I'm going to have to look into that. It sounds amazing! Thank you!
Go on a Caribbean cruise! My FH and I are going on a 7 day cruise to the Caribbean for around $3K! And that includes all of our excursions and play money :]
i'm obsessed with bookit.com...there are all sorts of deals on that page, many for under your price limit.
however, we are getting married a month before you and not all the resorts are listing prices for that time period yet. so keep checking back!
We're going to Playa del Carmen in Mexico, and if you pick a non-inclusive hotel it's very reasonable. Some hotels are La Tortuga, Playa Maya, or Aventura Mexicana (look at Trip Advisor for the inside scoop!). Our hotel + flight is $1300, but that's for July.
The whole mayan riviera, which is the Caribbean part of the yucutan peninsula in Mexico, where Playa del Carmen is, is probably gorgeous in March (I say probably because I've never been!). I have also heard that Costa Rica is beautiful--with beaches, rain forests, etc and reasonably priced. Also, if you don't want to go somewhere warm, I love Toronto and Montreal in Canada. Huge beautiful cities with lots to do.
Oh, and also: we booked a vacation package through Expedia, and that saved us a few hundred dollars.
You can do a lot for your budget. It looks like your wedding is in March, which is smack in the middle of spring breaks. So you'll want to book early, as pricing for the first quarter tends to be higher, and will only go up the closer you get to your departure date.
The Riviera Maya region in Mexico is fantastic. You could stay at a nice all inclusive within that range.
Jamaica, Punta Cana, or a cruise that leaves from Miami or Ft Lauderdale could work for you as well.
Happy travels!
We are actually planning our honeymoon to Quebec City and then Tadoussac Quebec to stay in a bed and breakfast and go whale watching. Quebec City has a beautiful castle and lots of little shops giving it a very European flair. We really wanted to go to Europe but unfortunately it wasn't in the budget...
Here is a link to the quebec city website:
happy to dream up some ideas! where are you located? (want to consider that for flights). are you big into culture and food when you travel? or are you ok with vacation spots created for tourists?
