What do you do when you hate your vendor?

I think you need to find out if the new photographer will do your Sunday wedding first. But if you’re really uncomfortable with the original photographer, then you should probably cancel with him no matter what, if the venue will let you do that. You don’t want someone taking your pictures on your wedding day that you don’t even like! (And he sounds like a jerk, honestly.)

It sounds like your problem should be way more with the coordinator and way less with the photographer.

Can you cancel just his services? I’d

1-Find out if he will do a Sunday wedding

2- FInd out if you can get rid of just the photography part of your package

@AndysCraftsNmore:  Yikes, this is a big mess. These all inclusive packages are usually a nightmare for this very reason.

I would start looking for another photographer if the one you like won’t shoot Sundays. Once you find the new photographer, let the venue know you won’t be using their photographer but don’t expect a big chunk of change back – depending on the contract terms they may not have to give you a dime back. It’s better for you to like your photographer and love their work though, rather than having someone you dislike who is super unprofessional following you around all day at your wedding.

What does your contract say about cancellation??  You may be out the deposit if you cancel.

But the photographer definitely sounds like a piece of work, and I wouldn’t want to work with them either.

First of all, I am assuming that your Epics photographer (from the venue) will be your wedding day photographer. Is that true? Or can they assign someone else for the actual wedding day?

What I would do:

1. Have the free session and try him out. Maybe he was having a bad day you spoke on the phone and keep an open mind (and smile!)

2. If you DON’T like the photos ask the venue if you can get another photographer for the wedding day. Cite that you were not pleased with their work. Ask for a portfolio and interview them before you agree to a new photographer to ensure you like them.

3. If they won’t give you a new photographer, or you don’t like the new one provided after the interview, start looking for your own. Begin with the photographer who did your first set of E-pics and if he says no, ask for some recommendations.

Bottom line: Do not hire any vendor (DJ, photog, caterer) without actually meeting with the vendor first. You can still book a package of vendors, but have a sit down with each one individually first.
