So, we got engaged a few weeks ago and I was sooo excited. I’m the type of girl who has been planning my wedding for years. me and mum went to look at dresses and I completely fell in love, I mean I cried! I’ve been looking for wedding dresses for years and always liked a few dresses here and there, but I’ve never felt like this.
The thing is, we aren’t getting married until 2016. I don’t know what to do, if I don’t get it will i regret it, if I do will i want a different dress. all I know is I can’t stop thinking about this dress.

@NewYorkBrideUk: If it were me I would not get it…just because I know myself and as much as I might LOVE that one dress now, I would be falling in love with all the new styles to come and kicking myself for buying that one first. I mean…imagine all the new and gorgeous styles that will come out between now and then?

I would say you have plenty of time to look for a dress. The drawback of buying a dress this early is that you may fall in love with a different dress along the road…styles and trends can change a lot between now and your wedding.

What style is it? If it’s really classic then you could probably go ahead and get it. If it’s something that’s really trendy right now then you should wait. Maybe call the store and see if they can tell you how long they’ll be carrying the dress?

100000% you will change your mind! Seriously, wait. Just search “dress regret” heree on the bee and you will read the stories! I got my dress 9 months in advance and regretted soon after. I just got my new one, 5 months before the wedding.

Wait, if it’s still the one when it’s time to buy, then it will still be around to order. In 3 years your style can change and even your size. You buy it now, chances are, you will have dress regret.

I would def wait. Enjoy going and trying on lots in the mean time to really get a good idea of what you like (plus its so much fun! Haha), but there will be so many new styles that come out between now and then you may change your mind. Plus if you still want the same dress nearer the time you may get it cheaper! Bonus!
