Hi ladies! I’ve spent the past 6 months telling myself I really wanted to lose weight before the wedding and honeymoon – and now today, I’m three months away. Here’s what I HAVE done:
- Joined Weight Watchers (Today, but I’ve been a member before)
- Joined the local YMCA for three months to use their weights/cardio equipment
- Have been doing ZUMBA for one month, at least twice a week, usually three
- Shooting hoops a few times a week with our neighborhood buddies at the park
My results have been a little encouraging, but mostly no actual weight loss. The plus is that I feel stronger and under the flab, I see muscle changes. I’m a size 14 now and I would like to drop a dress size between now and my first fitting, in 60 days (and before you panic, I have a private seamstress so it’s totally okay that I’m waiting this late!)
I need some help staying motivated. Working out has been going great, but my lack of willpower and control with eating has been my downfall. Getting back on WW is definately going to help with that.
What are some ways you guys stay motivated?

What keeps me motivated is not my dress, but spending 10 days on a beach with FI! LOL! I want to look hot and I want him to take photos of me on our HM and not worry about if I’m standing right to hide things, or if this shirt makes me look fat, etc. I want to feel gorgeous on our honeymoon!
I’ve been doing the 30 Day Shred like so many other brides on here and it’s really helped. I’ve dropped a dress size (although I’ve been doing it for longer than 30 days, trust me) and I’m definitely stronger. My mom commented on how much I’d lost which was awesome because she doesn’t give compliments easily, LOL! On days like today when I was not feeling like working out, I just think of my bikini and put on my running shoes and get Jillian on my screen to push me through it.
WW is great too. My sister has been doing it and has had great success. Keep doing what you’re doing, it sounds like you’re going down the right road!

@bakerella: Confession time. I own 30 Day Shred. And it’s still in the wrapper. Maybe I should try that to mix things up?

I use measurments, not weight for my motivation, so I went onto a site called chickipedia.com (its kind of degrading, and be careful who you look up) and they have bust, waist, and hip measurements of celebrities and models. I want to be 34-26-36, (two inches to go on the bust and waist… don’t even ask about the hips lol) so Cindy Crawford, Jessica Beil and some other random model’s picutes are on my bathroom mirror to motivate me every morning. It has been helping me visualize my goal and that helps me keep working out and eating right.

Today was my first weigh-in (here at home for WW online) and my goals seem realistic! I do wish I had actually started working on this sooner, but hopefully I will be able to feel great in my dress and on my honeymoon.
I’m going to try the 30 day shred today!

What keeps me motivated is that for me, it has to be a lifestyle. I can’t just say I want to get from Point A to Point B, and that’s it, because once I get to Point B, I will slide right back to Point A. So yea, I want to look hot on my wedding day and during my honeymoon, but I also do not want to be saying that I was in the best shape of my life on my wedding day. I always want to be in the best shape of my life.
Before if I would stop working out for a week or two, I would stop for months. But now, if I’m feeling burned out, I give myself some time and then get back into it.
Also, I just started doing this step/ aerobics class at my gym and it’s really fun but a great work out at the same time and the other people in the class motivate me to keep up. I also have a work out buddy (my mom) and that makes it easier too, because there is someone relying on me to go, and vice versa.
Just find what works for you and try to incorporate it into your life, not into your wedding planning, so you’ll stick with it after your wedding. (Does that make sense?)
