I just got engaged to my then Girlfriend on thanksgiving. I want to help her as much as i can. We are hoping to get married in later april, early may or early june of next year. We have figured about 150-200 people. I have a friend who has offered to cator is buffet style. So i’d like to find a place that can allow for that. Please help! i am not sure where to go. Most of the places i have found require you to use their cator and its very expensive. i would idealy like to find a place that can offer seats, tables, linens, and silverware. we both live in north eastern pa. Near doylestown. i am wondering if anyone know of places in a 50 or so miles radius of us.

The Scranton Cultural Center is one of the only places around here that allows you to bring in outside catering. The problem is they charge (around) $30-$40 per guest for alcohol. I’m pretty sure you don’t have the option of a consumption bar either. You’re also responsible for everything – decorations, linens, rental fees, and anything extra you want. So in the end, even though your friend will probably be cutting you a break, I feel you’re still going to end up spending a fortune.
Your best bet, in my opinion, is finding a hose company that doesn’t have onsite catering and will hold that many guests. You can decorate it to look as nice as you want, you are hardly paying anything for the space, and you can hire your own wait staff and stock your own bar.
