hello all! our wedding is in less than 4 weeks and we still have not decided on what my fiance will be wearing. my fiance does not really know what he wants and i’m trying to help him. as a background we are having a daytime wedding at an inn on the water, with a semi-formal feel to it.
the groom and groomsmen will be wearing this tuxedo:
and groomsmen ties that look similar to these to match bridesmaids who will be in a deep plum color (cant find the exact ones)
my dress is a light ivory color.
now, i personally do not like vests and didnt know how to match a vest to these ties without making it look to busy. so we are doing the tuxes with only ties. my question is, what should we have my fiance wear? i initially liked the idea of an ivory tie to match me, but ive never seen an ivory tie without a vest, and i dont think we could put him in a vest and not have the groomsmen in vests.
my other idea is to do a simple black tie with no vest
or are we crazy and do we HAVE to have a vest?
please let me know what you think- im panicking as the wedding is less than a month away- i need advice asap!!!
thanks in advance!

Can you and your fiancé go to where ever you are renting the tux from and try on these different variations? That if you can, that is what i suggest, so you can see the different color ties with and without the vest!

I agree – try them on if possible! Also, I don’t think it’d be bad if your Fiance wore a vest and Groomsmen did not… I can see some cool pictures coming from that (with the jackets off, etc.

Ours did black shirts, black vests and coloured ties. Groom wore black shirt, white vest and white tie. The all black REALLY made the colour of the tie stand out. I LOVED it. My hubby said vests are key for pictures cause without them then their pants looked hiked up to the armpits. It was his personal preference.

thanks to everyone for their replies.
on a separate message board somebody posted that tuxedos should not be worn during the day. now i’m really stressing out- its way too late to change things now. do you think the groom/groomsmen will look silly? we could not afford for all of the boys to get matching or even coordinating suits (many did not even own a decent suit). this poster also said that a tux must be worn with either a vest or cumberbund…
i guess we’ll try to go to the store and try these things on. i wish we would have planned this more in advance. im getting really worried now!! 🙁
