- Wedding: September 2013
My SO and I recently attended an outdoor wedding in a forest. The decorations were simple but elegant. They used hanging baskets with planted flowers. on those garden hooks (maybe about 4 feet off the ground) that lined the area where they were getting married. I thought it dressed up the location very nicely and it wasn’t too expensive either.
Here are some ideas that I have pinned from when we were looking at an outdoor wedding:
(I liked the idea of having the barrels a little more “dressed up” than this, but it gives you the idea)
@Ja5mne: Do you have a pic of the ceremony site? Are there trees from which you can hang things? Do you have any theme to your wedding? or feel that you are going for other than the colors? (which will be beautiful, by the way).
Always remember that there is inherent beauty in nature, and it doesn’t need a lot of embellishment.
A few simple paper lanterns focus attention on the altar area
you can buy, or borrow, an inexpensive gazebo (Rite-Aid used to have plasticized paper ones for $19.99) and decorate it
This couple used a picnic theme and picnic baskets in their decor
Tell us more so we can help.
Hey ya’ll thanks for all the comments! I’m gonna go ahead and post pictures of the venue. There is a wide space on the left that is a blank canvas we are thinking to use it for the ceremony. I visited the site today and lordy those tables as expected were horrid. They were a weird black green metal that look like cheese graters on both the seat and tables! Have you guys any ideas on this? I also included the venue layout! Thanks so much ladies 🙂

@julies1949: We are going for vintage modern, we are a really laid back couple
( more him than I really haha) and are even having bbq for our reception food dressed up of course. Our cocktails are blackberry mojitos and southern lemonade. There will be about 30 guest and we will definitely be lighting up the fireplace at night. I’m a total sucker for twinkle lights!!
@Ja5mne: That pavilion is awesome. It wil make for some beautiful pics in front of that fireplace.
I can see a monogram on the chimney above the mantel.
or some greenery
pavilions are fun and easy to decorate as you have so many places to attach things with the beams and pillars
Our whole shabang is outside too…I think the wonder of the outdoors is that I doesn’t need THAT much decor!! Here is what we’re doing….
flower petal aisle with an arch (different colors and no tulle)
centerpieces to go wtih your outdoor/rustic/love bird wedding
The reception is under a tent, and the tent has lights for when it gets dark.
Sweatheart table decor:
We’re having a cupcake tower, and a photobooth with matching theme, and that’s really it.
