I’m a big huge fan of casual shoots – it’s so much more real, to me, and special. Obviously it depends on your area, but around here most photographers will do a newlywed/couples shoot for just a few hundred dollars – totally worth it to me!

@MrsPlaidShirt: I think if is something that you really want to do, and from your post it seems like it is, and you can afford it – ABSOLUTELY!!! (I like the idea of a newly wed shoot, personally!) Photos are such a fun way to preserve this time in your life. Look at pictures that you like so you will have good ideas to take to the photographer you pick. Also look at things you don’t like so you can tell him or her what you want to avoid!! Good luck! 🙂

If you’ve got the spare cash I would. They’re so much fun and you’ll always be thinking back to this time of your life and you’re always going to value great pictures of the two of you.

Those would be called “family photos” and yes it’s ok to take those! 😛

Yes, I agree you can totally have a “family” session with your new hubby. Wear casual clothes or do a “trash the dress” session. Or wait a year and make it an anniversary photo shoot!

@MrsPlaidShirt:  Of course if you want to! It’s up to you! And it might be really nice to have those pictures around your house or office etc.!

@MrsPlaidShirt:  yeah you definitely don’t need a kid to have pro pictures taken! I know personally some of my favorite pictures of my parents are ones from when they were young and in love and just married – the look so happy and in love…not that they didn’t look like that post-kids, but it’s just different, you know?

If it’s something that is important to you, why not?
