We just came back from our tasting and we can’t decide on a soup! We narrowed it down to two choices: Cream of Chicken and Rice or Italian Wedding Soup. They are both so yummy! What would you choose? Why?
BTW, this is in addition to the salad course.

I would choose Italian Wedding, not only is it a personal favorite of mine, but the word “Wedding” is in it, so it fits the occassion!

i would do the italian wedding soup. i know too many people who don’t care for cream based soups. besides, it’s a “wedding”, lol.

Thanks ladies! That’s what I was thinking too, but the banquet hall manager says that he’s only done 1 or 2 weddings with Italian wedding soup, but hundreds with cream of chicken and rice. He says creamy soups seem more “formal.” I’ve never heard of that, but I guess it is kind of similar to chicken noodle soup.
Has anyone actually HAD Italian wedding soup at a wedding???

I don’t really like creamy chicken soup, so I choose the italian wedding soup for sure

I voted for italian wedding soup, but I’m biased. I can’t stand cream of chicken.

Although the Cream of Chicken and Rice may be delicious, I cannot think of it without seeing a red and white Campbell’s Soup can in my head. I would choose the Italian Wedding soup.

- Wedding: October 2011 - Bed & Breakfast
I voted for italian wedding soup. Cream soups do not make my stomach happy.

I also vote for the Italian Wedding Soup. People are pretty picky about the cream soups that they like. I know that I prefer my chicken soups to be broth based and not creamy. Plus I LOVE Italian Wedding Soup!! 🙂

Is this really a question? One is something plain and unhealthy you can get in a Campbells can and the other is something super traditional to weddings. The answer should be obvious!

@mrscash: It’s not really the campbell’s version…you can actually see the chicken and vegetables in it. They also gave us the option of doing it with lemon (i.e. similar to Greek Egg Lemon soup). And I actually like the Progresso version of Italian wedding soup…so to me they’re both in the same league.
HOWEVER, based on everyone’s comments, votes, and input from our respective families, we are going to have Italian wedding soup! Thanks everyone!!
