My parents are awesome and have offered to pay for our flights anywhere in the United States. Their best friends are also giving us a time share for a week. This is very exciting because we only had a budget of $1500. Now I just have to decide where I want to go. I have been on a lot of beach trips where I get very bored by the end of the week because there is nothing to do. My fiancé would like somewhere he can go hiking or fishing. I would prefer to be lazy (no hiking, but still have awesome activities). Most of the large towns are already booked (San Diego, LA, NYC, Florida Keys). I think Williamsburg is at the top of our list, but fiancé is worried that it’ll turn into a “field trip”. Can you ladies please suggest places in the United States and tell me why they would be great options?

Wow it definitely sounds like you should go to Seattle!! You said you can rent a timeshare for a week? There are tons of great places to stay in Seattle and you can definitely do short little hikes and kayak trips if you get bored. (Seattle has several large lakes, and it’s on the Pacific Ocean, so water is abundant. It’s also on the edge of the Cascade Mountains so there are beautiful old-growth forests within driving distance.) A lot of people find the San Juan Islands very romantic – they are gorgeous islands with low populations and lots of pretty sea-side scenery (have you seen Twilight? It gives you an idea of what the Pacific Northwest looks like) and you can stay somewhere quaint and romantic. You can go on a whale-watching trip, you can rent bikes or vespas to ride around the islands, you can go out to eat at some of the great restaurants, make pottery in a pottery shop, be lazy and lay at the beach, etc. etc. plus the ferry ride to the islands is very fun and scenic. In the city of Seattle, there are a million things to do, PM me if you want some recs!
