My wedding is going to be in Huntington Beach, CA. It’s going to be held at the Newland Barn. WE’re going for a rustic/vintage theme. Casual. We’re serving BBQ and drinks out of mason jars. My centerpieces are white lanterns (kind of resemble lighthouses) with small blue glass vases that are going to be filled with vintage mums.
My fiance wants to name the tables California beaches, ex: Venice, Manhattan, Laguna, San Onofre. My cousin is telling me it would be odd to give the tables beach names, she thinks it should be romantic cities around the world, ex: Paris, France, Tuscany, Italy…
What should I do? Should i go with the California Beach theme, the destinations, or scrap both and go with something else? I will not do table numbers. There are too many people I think would be hurt over being table #18 and not table #2 or something stupid like that.
Please help! Thank you in advance!

@Miss Mellow Yellow:I saw something very cute done with years at a friend’s wedding. They assigned each table a year, 1980, 1981, 1982, all the way through current, and put correspinding pictures of themselves from that year on each table. So 1982, for example, would have pictures of them from that year, or as close as possible. It was very unique and people loved looking at all the different pictures! That’s just a third option for you 🙂
If I had to decide between romantic cities and beaches, I’d go with the beaches. It makes more sense since you’re actually IN Cali 🙂 Romantic cities is a little cliche (sorry to your cousin)
Good luck! Your wedding sounds so fun!

@Miss Mellow Yellow: I like the idea of beaches. I think it shows homage to where the wedding is. Plus, romantic cities doesn’t really ‘fit’ your theme. I think of romantic cities for more formal weddings.

I think the Beaches make sense since your so close to the Beach (I used to live right by where your getting married!! YAY!) My fellow Bride-Friend is doing the Ages for her Table with a Baby Picture or Picture correlating with that “Age” or “Number on the Table”, which is VERY cute!

I vote beaches too. Much more personal and original than cities.
But really, you can name them after anything you want. Ours were named after zombie movies. lol

I think beaches because you are getting married in CA
The cities around the world doesnt seem to have any relation to your wedding!

@rica827: I LOVE that idea. I brought it up to my fiance before and he scrapped that idea. He said he doesn’t like having his picture in people’s faces. I told him, Hello, it’s our wedding. The whole day is supposed to be about us!
@zippylef: Zombie movies! Zombieland is theee best!
Thank you all for your feedback! The beaches made more sense to me too!
