I’m just a couple of weeks away from my wedding and suffering some serious dress regret. I’m having quite a lot of alterations made to my dress to try and feel happy with it, but my feelings haven’t been helped by recently seeing photos of an old school friend’s wedding on facebook in the most beautiful dress I’ve ever laid eyes on (if anyone can identify it, it would really help me if I found out it was way out of my budget so I wouldn’t have been able to afford it anyway lol). Anyway, not sure what purpose this post really has, I guess I’m hoping for some fresh sets of eyes to comment on my dress and hopefully help me be happy about wearing it.
Without further ado, here’s my dress. It’s mid alterations at the moment – the straps will be completely covered in lace and slightly narrower at the point they meet the bodice. The same lace is being added to the train.
and here’s the dress I’m currently lusting over!

@RainbowHope: Your dress is SO much better than the one you are lusting over!

Honestly I think your dress is about 10,000 times more beautiful than your friends’, and it does a great job flattering your body. Is there something SPECIFIC you don’t like about it?

I prefer your dress, especially the skirt part. You look lovely in your dress!!

I have to agree with the other bees on this one.
Your dress looks lovely and I really like the shape that it presents, especially in the back with how it flows into the train.

It could be personal preference, but I REALLY love your dress, especially compared to hers. No worries, girl!

Girl you look great in your dress! It shows you off so so well. And the lace straps are going to be so pretty… I also think once lace is put on the train the detailing will be so eye-catching!

Thank you all! I guess I’m not very good at clothes shopping and really hated the wedding dress shopping experiance. I tried to keep my fiance’s likes in mind and knew he would like me to show off my body shape more than I usually do, but I guess I’m regretting not getting something a bit more ‘fairytale and romantic’ looking.
Thank you all for your comments though, they do make me feel better, even if I was asking for them lol

@RainbowHope: Your dress is wayyy better! I know that feeling though, and if you must alter your dress in some way, try removing the straps maybe?? Just my opinion, but I wouldn’t touch it!

@whoa_its_ash: @Sunnyday278: Thank you so much, yes I’m hoping that once all the alterations are finished it’ll be a lot prettier. I do like the fact that having had so many alterations carried out it will be a unique dress 🙂

@Chicagochic: haha thanks, I’m actually adding the straps, it was originally strapless, but I felt the straps balanced the dress out a bit better, particularly at the back

Your friend’s dress wouldn’t flatter your figure NEARLY as much as the one you purchased does! You dress looks gorgeous on you & with the alterations to the straps you described I think it’s only going to get better! Seriously, your dress is timeless & elegant and you look beautiful. Stop worrying about it!!!

@RainbowHope: It’s gorgeous and super flattering on you! Just wait until your hair and makeup is done..it’ll all come together perfectly!

I like the fit of your dress a lot more. It’s also more unique than the other one. If I had to nitpick, the only thing I prefer about the other dress is that it’s simpler (no beading/applique at the hip). However, I know I’m in the minority on that and it’s purely a personal preference- I just like no bling whatsoever. If I were you, I wouldn’t lust over the other dress. The fit on yours is very nice (and I love the straps).

I think your gown is beautiful! However, if you don’t feel 100% beautiful then never underestimate the power of accessories! For example, I know if you wanted to add the lace look you could forgo the straps and do a lace jacket like:
Or even adding a hoop skirt or something similar to make it fuller? I’m definitely not an accessorie queen like some of the bees on here are! But you do look beautiful in that gown! 🙂
