    Hi all,

So after much research (nearly two years worth) & a thorough review of our finances (we are both graduate students), we've decided that we can only afford a $4,000 wedding. Unfortunately, my hometown laughs at that amount. Thanks, Philly.

I ran the numbers tonight & I think we can do it! We are looking at a couple of restaurants downtown & in Manayunk that have private banquet space. The only problem is that there isn't much space at these venues.

    My options are:
    1. host the ceremony in the restaurant
The negatives to this are that there is limited space (I'm thinking it will be/look awkward). Furthermore, I'm not having a cocktail hour, so it's not so easy to just route folks into another room. They'd all have to sit at their tables during the ceremony. So definitely not my first choice!!
    2. find a cheap ceremony site in Philadelphia, preferably in Manayunk or Center City.

Does anyone know of any sites under $500 where I could have a short (~30 minute) ceremony?! I will forever be indebted to you!!!

Try the Union League. I know room rental fee for our rehearsal dinner is $500 + food and drinks. Maybe you can just rent the room for the same price. If notnwhy not try an outdoor place-like love park, Logan fountain, the Pavillion at the waterworks-you'll have to get a permit (which is cheap) and rent chairs, microphones, etc...but it's a cheap alternative to a space.
