I am having a very very hard time finding a dress I like. I am getting married outside in CA in the spring and will be getting two dresses. I would like one tight mermaid or trumpet one for the ceremony and an A line or princess one for the reception.
I have very non-traditional taste. I don’t like simple dresses, where its all lace, or all silk, etc. I want something with applique and flowers and beading/crystals, or even feathers on it. Or ones with very non traditional looking skirts. I am having a hard time finding designes that make dresses like this. There are a couple of Ysa Makino dreses I saw that I liked. I also looked at Ines De Santos. I don’t really have a budget though I don’t want to spend more than 10k.
Any recommendations of other designers I should consider? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have tried on so many dresses…and none I really love.

I would definately check out Pronovias dresses and Enzoani. I know Pronovias has quite a few gorgeous feather dresses and different textures

Check out Simone Carvalli, I found some dresses that had feather-like skirts.

Maybe check out Nordstrom Bridal? Sue wong has some feathered dresses, and they have a lot of unique and affordable styles, especially if you are looking for a fun reception dress.

I would check out Lazaro, for sure. They do a lot of really unique skirts and embellishment on their gowns.

This is my dress.
I’m not into “simple” either. =D It’s from Mary’s Karelina Sposa Collection and they are actually really budget friendly when you consider the detail (and your budget!). Lucky girl… 😉 Mary’s has a lot of other intricate styles which are also great.

I really love the new Hayley Paige line from JLM Couture, also Lazaro has beautiful beaded dresses.
If you’re looking at higher end, I love Monique Lhuillier and Oscar de la Renta. There are some great boutique designers as well like SarahSeven.

Take a look at Sottero & Midgley (http://www.sotteroandmidgley.com/) or Maggie Sottero http://www.maggiesottero.com/! The website has what real brides look like in the dresses which helped me a lot to decide on my purchase. Happy huntin!

These are all great suggestions. KittyChen also makes very unique gowns, with lots of flowers/beading/feathers/etc.: http://www.kittychencouture.com/

Monique Lhuillier has some beautiful dresses that take a spin on traditional dresses. She has designed some really stunning dresses with princess type skirts that are amazing and unique. There are some pretty trumpet style dresses too. However…theyre expensive. But worth a look!
