    Hi ladies, it's a long story but my reception venue is under new ownership & can no longer guarantee my reservation, menu, pricing, ect so it's looking like I need to find a new venue.  I'm looking for something ideally in Somerset County NJ, but I'm willing to expand my search as far as PA if I could find a nice place.  Unfortunately, our budget is very small which is making this very difficult: $5000 for 125 people (for the food & any rental fees for the space).  If any one knows of a place they can suggest, I would really appreciate it!

    I can't think of anything in Somerset County for that price. What kind of venue are you looking for? The lowest price venue I found while we are searching was the Windsor Ballroom at the Holiday Inn in West Windsor. I think that was around $7500 for 125 people. However, we were only looking for locations at hotels. Have you tried the Bridgewater Manor? I hear their prices are affordable. Or Pheasants Landing in Hillsborough?

    Good luck!

    Hi EmeraldR, our original venue was a restaurant, so I've been trying to find other restaurants with a large enough party room but no luck so far.  Honestly I'm open to anything at this point.  I just want to have a nice reception, but we have this huge guest list that we're paying for ourselves & it just seems so hopeless at the moment!  I want to make cuts to the guest list, but that just starts WW 3 with his parents, including his mom screaming at us & threatening not to come to the wedding.  I really don't know what to do at this point.  We've actually just contacted Pheasants landing today for pricing.  We'll try to contact Bridgewater Manor as well, thank you for the suggestion.

    You're welcome. Having it at a restaurant definitely helps the price. If possible, I would look further south, it may be a little less expensive. If his parents aren't already helping pay, I would ask them to. It's a pretty tall order to find a place in a relatively expensive area like Somerset County in your price range for that many people. Maybe your future in-laws could kick in a few thousand to help you out and keep the guest list as is. If you show them pricing that you get, maybe that will give them some perspective. I understand the family drama- it really sucks. Good luck! I'll let you know if I think of other places.

    Not sure if Paramus is too far, but Biagio's does weddings and should be able to accommodate a group that size. Not sure about price, though.

    Good luck!

    Try bridgewater manor .. I heard that is pretty and I went on their site and they have promotions. I'm pretty sure that I saw a menu for 60 per person and I think that it was open bar . Good luck!! ohh another place is maggiano's little italy you could check out their prices and menus in their site.

    Long time lurker..made a user name just for this.  Here is my venue in Sandy Hook, NJ.  The view is spectacular, and the venue is affordable.  It is a more casual vibe, but that is what I am going for.

    I don't know if you're considering Linden at all, but I just discovered a restaurant called Amici Ristoranti that looks like it might be within your budget.  According to their website, they have a "formal package" for like $40pp, including open bar and cake, though I believe the cocktail hour is extra. Worth taking a look.

    Hope this helps!

    @nyasia.bowles:

    are you getting married this year. I am having a huge issue finding a venue that is in my budget. I had picked oct 21, 2012 which is a sunday and the prices are way out of my budget. I am planning on having about 130 people at my wedding and my entire budget if I can should be 10k for everything. I contacted the windsor ballroom and they are not moving on their price at all.

    @sexxysheddy:I had the same issue with the Windsor. I would try the ones in Toms River, especially the Versailles Ballroom at the Ramada. They worked with my budget WAYYY more than the other locations did...

    @RayRayFurious: Thank u Ray Ray....I fee like you are like my fairy God mother of wedding planning...LOL...I am getting so frustrated we are thinking of moving our date back to 2013. We picked October of next year and I keep hearing from the venues how now October is wedding month...which I think is bull..I thought May was the month of weddings...will call the Ramada as soon I get off from work :-)!
