By catering do you mean just the food? OR including the venue? I actually know a lot of spaces, but I need to know the type of food you're looking for, bc all of these spaces are private dining spaces, or full restaurant buyouts, and SURPRISINGLY within your budget. Email me and let me know and I can point you to a few based on your preferences.
Penthouse 15 (www.loft11.com) would probably work for you. It's a loft though so depending on what you're planning, you need to rent tables/chairs/etc...but whatever caterer you hire should be able to help you with that. The cost to rent the penthouse includes the rooftop which is nice. And Dish Food Catering is a small, recently started company. Food is outstanding and Ryan, the owner is GREAT. And prices were very reasonable. Let me know if you're interested and I can give you his info.
try battery gardens. they have an outdoor space for the ceremony, the watrer views are great. the budget is tight, but doesn't hurt to ask.. they may be able to work with you if it is off season. Ilene Wolfe and Paul are wonderfully nice ppl.
My sister had her wedding at The Foundry in LIC their rates are very reasonable. She used a private caterer who also worked with her budget , the place was beautiful.
I was looking for smaller venues as well and finally settled on Tribeca Grill. I think their Loft space is probably just right for your numbers and they are VERY reasonably priced. Another venue I looked at was City Hall restaurant. Their Granite Room would be good for your numbers and they were also reasonably priced. These venues don't have the indoor/outdoor space you want but I think they would be worth looking into. Battery Gardens was expensive and I think they might have the 100+ minimum requirement as well. Hope this helps, good luck with finding the right venue!
also, if you are looking for a church like setting ... try landmark on the park. Ceremony only is $1500. You bring your own caterers.
Try Seamen's Church Institute: they have a chapel you can use as well as reception space. In addition you might want to try Astra.
One of my favorite weddings is Didi's from Little Winter Bride. Not sure if your budgets match but you can find all of her wedding details here:http://littlewinterbride.blogspot.com/search/label/Little%20Winter%20Bride%27s%20wedding
And here are some NYC venues from her site:
the foundry is really nice, we looked at that as well, but it was booked on our date. A little expensive for a small wedding, $4500 to rent for the night.
I know I am a bit late, but can you let me now what venue did you end up booking?

Hi,
I am seeking major help with looking for a unique venue in NYC to host my wedding. I think we will have about 60 attending, it could be 80 tops.
I have looked far and wide but all the venues I've liked have minimums of 100+. I'm exhausted after two months of looking and looking with no succes... Please help me. Our budget is $8,000 -$10,000 for catering.
I would love to have an outdoor/indoor area and a place for ceremony.
Thank you so much for your help!!!!!
