Who wants a challenge and help me find my dream dress?
So after weeks if not months of looking at dresses I have zeroed in on two that I absolutely LOVE!
I’d be happy with either one, but both are from older collections and are not available in any stores.
I am nervous about ordering something without trying it on or even having it custom made by those international stores.
So, I was hoping you could help me find some very similar dresses to either one of these.
Or if you know where I can try them on – please let me know!
I am a street size 4, wedding dress size 6/8. I have a pretty small waist though and would like to accent it. I do love the fit-and-flare or drop-waist/a-line.
I am short and hippy and would need a dress flattering around the hips/tummy pooch, haha. So NO mermaids! 🙂
Here are the elements I’m dreaming of (and not) and some pictures of dresses I already found that would be good but are either missing or have an extra element.
*some lace element – applique or whole overlay
*side drape/ruching/gathering around tummy/hips
*Corset closer would be nice, but not necessary.
*I won’t be too picky with material or shade
*I know the Maggie Coco is similar, but somehow I am not loving the line around the bust.
Thank you, lovely bees in advance and sorry for being so picky!

@LilDrAnya: Have you looked for either of those used? And I think you should consider dresses without lace, and just have lace on your veil. I have a La Sposa dress that I bought used that I am planning on altering to have a sweetheart neckline. Also have you considered asking a seamstress if she could add the lace element? I think I’m one size smaller that you, but the built in inner corset makes me look a lot smaller than I am. There are buttons on the back too, which I love.
This is my dress on another bride, who has had it altered to a sweetheart neckline:

@treeline: below 1000, but if it’s more expensive and I love it when I try it on, I will look for it used online.
@asscherlover : what a beautiful gown! which la sposa is it? I have no problem buying used, my issue is buying it without trying on. Unless someone in my area had it for sale and was willing to let me come over and try it, I’d be hesitant about blindly getting it and having it shipped.

@LilDrAnya: Its the Fanal. Its a pretty popular dress, so there are a bunch available used, but its also still being sold at salons. There is also White One’s Tigris/411 (Tigris in the 2012 collection, 411 in prior collections), which is the same dress, but has no train. And I paid 500 for it used, but its usually 600-900 used. I think it retails for 1500?

@Treeline: did you have any suggestions?

@LilDrAnya: I tried to look but didn’t find too much,
sounds like what you want but might be in an older collection as well.
Is from a new colleciton but doesn’t have the gathering of fabric, but is really beautiful. I’ll see if I can find anything else..

@LilDrAnya: Also I was going to tell you that if you like things from an older collection and find a shop that is having a trunk show from that designer you might be able to request they bring in an older dress. I have done that before!
