sara5ann:  is there any certain target audience for your photography? i.e. babies, kids, family, engagement/wedding? Or all of them?

sara5ann:  as much as I love Sara Smile, I’m not too sure if there are any song title copyright issues. I agree, what is your target? What is your style?

Honestly, skip the cute names, but keep your name in business name.  When I see cute names I don’t take it seriosly and would wonder if you are a real photographer or a fauxtopher (unless you want to specialize in babies, then MAYBE, just MAYBE).

If this is going to be a small side business, then yes, use your name! It’s a cute idea. But if this is something you want to grow and maybe have othe photographers hired one day, I wouldn’t use your name at all. That way, if I were to hire Sara Smile Photography and get Dan the photographer taking my pictures, I won’t be like WTF.

It sounds like you’re going for the bright and cute-sy type of photography. I like Sara Sunshine Photography. That’s pretty adorable.

sara5ann:  As a professional photographer, my honest opinion, I wouldn’t use any of them. I mean this in the nicest way possible, but they’re all very generic and juvenile sounding. Is there any reason why you are not considering Your Name Photography? I will tell you, as a professional in the industry, YOU are your brand no matter what genre of photography you’re in. Generic name photography businesses are most often the least remembered. Photographers are their brand, and strongest marketing is with your name.

starfish0116:  Exactly!  As a photgrapher you are selling yourself.

Seriosly consider just using your name, it will legitimize your business so much, people are buying your style and your work, let them remember you.  Good luck!

I have to agree. I would only use your name, which I am assuming is Sara Ann.

Sara Ann Photography sounds good to me.

Yay for starting a photograhy business! I agree with the above posters, use Sara Ann Photography (or first + last name Photography, if you want!). When I rebranded, after only about 6 months in business, I ditched the “cutesy” name and have honestly had a lot more work since then! I use my first name initial plus my middle name…. J. Brianne Photography. Still “me”, but different than the normal photography names!
