I like the second photographer best...the style is more my style I guess lol.
I think you should have a look at Leah Kua photography. She is really gifted! http://www.leahkua.com/blog/
She has been in weddign blogs such as style me pretty. She is very creative.
Oh and she has really good packages too.. she sstays for the entire day/ night. two photographers. has a photography session before the day. really great. lots more.. just cant remember exactly what else..
@mrsrangrang: Thanks! I'll check her blog later :D
@mrsrangrang: I showed my FI and he said he wants somebody from our area since they know the area :P But thank you anyway ^^
I say either the first or third for style. The second one, in both the top two weddings on their blog has a lack of just bride and groom shots, and the ones I can see mostly look arty or forced.
I guess it's choosing between 2 photographers and 1. So long as both the photographers are of equal standard it's a pretty good bet. BUT price wise, I think the third is better value for movey.
@ladyartichoke: Thanks you very much :)
The third's prices come in at a bit more once i add the extra cost for the engagement session (and you have to pay for the disc of images from the engagement session) and extra for him to do the reception, so i worked it out to be around $3250
I love the second photographer. His style seems to be much more sophisticated (no messign around with gimiks like a " crazy booth") and focused on capturing natural moments. I like how he gets people's expressions in the moment. He is also the most expensive but I think the whole day coverage and editing are both great pluses to him. You don't have to worry that something is running late and you may run out of photography time and you don't need to squeeze things (cake cutting, 1st dance, etc.) into the first hour of the reception into order to get photos. To me, his approach to the event is a selling feature as much as his past work.
@Blue-Bird: Here are my thoughts. First off I don't care about any of the stuff. Meaning it you can pile up all of the albums, discs, prints, canvases, and whatever else. It shouldn't even be a factor. If you can afford to get the photographer you want to capture the wedding, worry about the rest later. All of the stuff doesn't mean anything if you aren't in love with the photos. People may or may not agree with that concept, but I'll stand by it as a photographer. Never let a better photographer go because they were up against someone who for the same price offered more stuff. Oh and just because a photographer doesn't make a big deal about advertising a certain type of shoot (like boudoir), I wouldn't make any assumptions. We do boudoir, but we don't have any examples of it on our website because it's not our focus.
The good news is that all three of these photography companies are very good. If I were choosing between the three to cover my own wedding I would choose David Moore, hands down, no need for deliberation. BUT - you HAVE to meet with them. Choosing one is just the first step, the personality connection is just as important. So if I met David Moore and we didn't fit personality wise, I'd have to choose someone else. If we are going based off of work, he's my choice. His stuff is edgy and clean. It's different, and he has some really stunning stuff in there. His about page gives me a little personality too. I'd like more, but he's putting more out there than the other two. The only thing I do not like is his black and white toning, I feel it's a very trendy style in the industry right now.
Scott Carle has a lot of good images, but his processing is all over the place and has little consistency. He does have some creative shots in there, but there are too many tilted angles, and too many shots of subjects smiling into the camera. It's not my style.
North Coast's biggest problem is they put forth no personality in their website. I think technically of the three they'd be my second choice just based on the photos, but I have no idea who they are. They have nice exposures and solid overall work. They seem like they'd be a safe bet, but for me so much of it boils down to personality between my clients that I really want them to know a little about me.
Anyways, good luck with your choice. Like I said, all good work overall.
Thank you very much! I don't like the black and white David Moore does, But if it's done in editting I can ask for the original and the black and white can't I?
I like how Scott Carle's photos are so vibrant (but that could just be me :P)
The thing I liked most about North Coast Photography is that you get two photographers, and when I emailed to as the price they did give me alot of information about who they are and how they started.
Thank you again for your feedback, It's great to get a Photographers point of view :)
@Blue-Bird: Well you can always ask I suppose. For me I edit black and whites differently from color, and I don't do two versions of each photo because it would be double the work. If you don't like the toning I'd be up front about it. He may be using a present or action that could be changed to something else. It doesn't have to be a big deal, but if he doesn't know ahead of time it would be a pain to change after the fact. Or you could request all color. In general I don't recommend trying to change a photographers style, but in this particular instance I might approach it with him in a, "I love your work, but your black and white toning isn't what I envision for my photos. I'd like them to look like... " and then have some examples.
Two photographers is generally a very good thing... however the second photographer is not always a "primary," meaning their skill level isn't necessarily equivalent to the main. You do get the benefit of additional angles, but often the main advantage is you just can't be two places at once. We can cover both bride and groom getting ready simultaneously, details while one person does portraits, etc etc.
@Blue-Bird: They have a nice website. If you're looking for a comparitive between the photographers you were looking at initially I think some of them are a lot stronger. I'm not a big fan of the vignetting on the photos and how retouched some of the skin looks. All of the photographers you have linked are pretty different. What is it that you're drawn to with these ones or the others?
I'm not a huge fan of the last one, But since I know nothing about Photography I thought i'd get your opinion incase i'm overlooking something.
These are the only Photographers in my area, So nothing really drew me to them just that they we're the only options. The ones I like out of our area we can't afford since we'd have to pay for travel costs.

I've been looking at Wedding Photographers forever and it's time for some outside assistance :P
