    Girls,

I need your help with this centerpiece, I am hoping you can make out what the base looks like.  It is a brushed nickel base but I am wanting to change the color of the base to a more autumn color for my autumn fall theme wedding.  My mom was being helpful and bought 15 of these for my centerpieces on the tables.  They are about 18-24" tall with a crackle type glass.  We are going to put an acorn type garland at the base of the centepiece and have a candle inside.

My colors are kind of more of golds, oranges, browns, and other fall colors so I am wondering if there is anything I can buy that I can paint the metal with.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks so much!

I'm thinking the type of graffiti gold spray paint might work?

    Ooo those are pretty!

Try metal spray paint but be sure to obviously tape the glass. I know they make it because people spray paint their metal deck chairs and what not all the time. Or if you want more of an antique-ish look, you could use a brush to dab on paint made for metal. I'm sure you could find the paint in a lot of color's at a craft store.

I would personally just tape off the glass (if it's not removable) and then spray paint the bottom.

    Krylon is a great brand

    http://www.krylon.com/products/

and I would look at these collections:

    - Make It Stone!® Metallic Textured Paints

    - Brush Metallic

    - X-Metals

I personally would give X-Metals a try but to each their own. :)

Oh good point janana, I'd say take one with you to the craft store and I bet they can point you to the best metal spray :) and other materials if you want to do the dabbing (things like sponges etc)

I agree with the other girls that a spray paint made to go on metals would be best. How about a copper finish? I think that would look great with your fall colors and be super dramatic!

    Good luck!

Spray paint :)  Make sure you tape the glass really well so that the paint doesn't leak through.

Thanks girls, probably spray paint will be the best thing for it.  I like all the copper and gold flake ideas.  I need something easy for me to do because my FI's diy list is getting longer  by the minute! HA!

Leave it. Things don't have to be all matchy-matchy. If you are surrounding it with a garland, it will look great and very "autumn".

Honestly, I was thinking spray painting it, but after thinking about it, I think it would be nice if you just left it.  With the garland already being so many colors, it would actually pop and be an elegant touch!

I LOVE SPRAYPAINT because I'm lazy and hate painting! I would try Krylon products with their primer, it has great stick!

I would definitely go with spray paint.  They make stuff now that you can spray on metal to look like any other type of metal like copper, or something that would go with your colors.

I spray paint everything!!!  Like FuterFisher said - cause i'm lazy and I hate to paint!  Just tape well and use newspaper to cover the rest of the glass. I usually use Rustoleum, but whatever brand you buy, read the can.  If it says it's not recommended for metal, then buy a metal primer.  If you're unsure, just get help from the paint guy at a hardware store.

You can DEF do this yourself and you'll feel so accomplished when it's done!!
