Ok bees, I need some ideas!

There is a benefit being put on for my mom on saturday, who is dealing with cancer for the fourth time. Both of my parents are teachers and it's being put on by both of their schools. One of the principals emailed me yesterday to ask if I could find people to decorate, and to work the door, and if I could help. I told him I would love to help, but wanted to know what he wanted in terms of decorations, or if I  needed to go pick things up. He said " I have no ideas... let me know if you need any help." ....

so I guess what I'm asking is... how do you decorate for a benefit supporting a cancer patient? What types of decorations should I get and how much? I'm clueless when it comes to this stuff. The event will be pretty big, with probably over a few hundred people in attendance throughout the evening. It will be held in a big hall.

Ideas?
