Congrats on your engagement! Hope you’re loving the wedding planning process as much as I am. As a fellow Long Island bride to be, I’ve found the liweddings.com site very helpful because it’s all LI bride posting and you can search for vendor reviews. I think you’ll have more luck there. I’m not familiar with any of the vendors you’ve named…sorry.

kayyy727:  I always try to find WeddingWire reviews of all my vendors. I don’t care as much as to whether they are 5-star (they all should be getting mostly 5-stars because it’s pretty obvious to the vendors who is writing which review), but instead, I look for the most enthusiastic reviews that talk about professionalism and attention to detail.

Typically I don’t like booking package vendors offered by a venue. it’s just a relationship they have, but it does not necessarily guarantee you the best vendors. I’d also take some time to do your own research.

Yay!! You are going with Med manor? That’s awsome!! Yea they literally have everything there you can think of in one great package price!!! My freind just got married there on sept 19 she used absolute dj she loved them and I thought they did an amazing job!! The venues are not going to recommend bad vendors then they would get bad reviews, it’s not like it’s cousin tommy trying to get a gig at a wedding, they are reputable vendors that do weddings every weekend!

kayyy727:  We just had our reception there this past Saturday. Zoli is GREAT! George is as well but we dealt more with Zoli. We went with Tall Tree florist – Karen was great and worked with me as I didn’t want the roses that were included in the package (I don’t like roses)

We went with Red Carpet limo – they were great.

We did use Madison Ave for photography and video – they were really nice. Can’t comment on my pics or video til I get them back.

We went with Perfect Parties. When we went to a showcase last year the other dj company bad mouthed Perfect Parties to me (I understand you are trying to get customers but that left a bad taste in my mouth). I decided to listen to both and give Absolute the benefit of the doubt but they didn’t sound as good as Perfect parties. So we went with them. We had the chance to see Absolute Entertainment at a friends wedding and after Saturday we were so glad we went with Perfect Parties. Chris is awesome. He was involved with the crowd and really made the day great. I got so many compliments about him and his guys. As for the playlist – Chris will work with you. We left it up to him but did give him a must play list and he played everything we asked and even all the songs my 7 year old nephew requested, lol.

When we went to the show case we only got to taste the cocktail hour food, so I was a little nervous about the reception food but everyone raved about it. All in all I would definitely pick them all again!

kayyy727:  You’re welcome! Any questions I can answer – I will. Both were at the showcase and again, I understand they want your business and that is why I was going to overlook the comment and listen to them perform and base it on that. We picked based on their performance and who knows you might like them better. It is your day – pick the ones you like 🙂

My favorite flowers are sunflowers. So she did sunflower centerpieces for me. Which everyone loved. And my bouquet had sunflowers, some fall looking roses and flowers.  She will work with you but keep in mind – any changes you make will add on some money. Because I changed all the flowers she factored in the cost from the package through the venue and then added up the costs for my changes. Which was about 400 (I also had to add extra flowers for the bridal party – I had a big one. I think the package was mine, moh and 2 or 4 bms)

The dj – we added the photobooth and some uplighting so that was extra money.

The limo – we didn’t upgrade. So we got the pickup from the hotel to the church. From the church to venue and then pickup from venue to our hotel. It was a 6 passanger limo (which cpuld have been upgraded for 300 plus depending on the size you wanted but we had a trolley and just used what we purchased from the package).

Again these are what the vendors I picked offered. I know right now perfect parties has a closed photobooth and Absolute has an open one (in case you want one ans like one over the other – but who knows what Perfect Parties will have next year). Everyone loved the booth and didnt care if it was a closed one. They made it work lol.

The venue does charge an extra fee to use their garden space (that’s if you are having a ceremony elsewhere. We got married at St. Patricks in Bay Shore and went straight there and used the garden space for pics – it was an additional $500). Our ceremony was at 10am. We were done and back at the venue by 1145. Took pics for the hour – that’s what the 500 allows you. And our cocktail hour started at 1 – so we all were able to enjoy it (we opted to spend the hour alone in the bridal suite. It can be the two of you, or you can invite your bridal party to join you) all up to you 🙂
