I am the most indecisive bride to be! I have my dress but am altering it as there are things I am not entirely happy with. I got it on sale and loved the fit but there were a few things I wanted to change. I am a bit overwhelmed with my options. I am definately removing the frill and changing the neckline to a deep sweetheart/V-neck but am a but stuck with the straps. Do I keep them as is? Remove the straps and make the dress strapless or add thicker straps?
My dress at the moment
option 2 (strapless)
Option 3 -(just the straps, the neckline will be more like option A)

I like option three. Spaghetti straps say 1990s to me, but the wider straps you posted seems very elegant. I would also worry that a dress made with straps wouldn’t have the structure to stay up and in place without them.

@anemonie: Thanks. I hadn’t thought of that. I have my first fitting for alterations on the 10th July but am doing my research so I can tell the seamstress exactly what I want 🙂

@kbar: I agree with PP that the thin straps look dated. ur dress doesnt seem to have the built in structure and boning to be able to go strapless….for that reason i voted for the thicker straps.
but just as a suggestion u could do thicker straps in a sheer material or thicker jeweled straps to add a bit of character..

Love the straps the pps showed you, and I vote for blingy straps to draw attention to your beautiful face. very classic, elegant.
You could also have boning installed if you’re worried about it staying up.

Thanks ladies! Love the dresses you have posted and am going to print them to take them to the seamstress. the bodice of the dress has a few beads so the blinged out straps will match it perfectly 🙂
