I am testing at 3:00 p.m..  I’ve also decreased the amount of water that I drink before the test in order to get a good sample.  I read somewhere this morning that the test could be taken between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., but everything else I’ve read says between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m..  The reasoning for this is that horomones are typically produced while we sleep.  However, it takes several hours for the newly-made horomones to make it through the kidneys and into urine.  With HPTs it doesn’t matter so much because you are looking for the presence of horomones and not a surge.

I’ve read that you should test twice a day. One in the morning with second morning urine and then again in the afternoon so that you don’t miss your LH surge. Testing only once a day you are likely to miss your surge.

@Sea_bass:  I am a huge water drinker and pee water color also. Too Much Information, sorry! LOL. I did not ever get a positive OPK this cycle, and I think it is because of that. =( But you always have LH in your system, so FMU “may” be more concentrated so it may be a false positive, but a lot of people (including myself) use FMU also. The thought is that the surge occurs in the afternoon I think, so try to not drink/pee for four hours prior to testing. If you search on WB for OPK there is a great thread about it. I will try to find it.
