Normally I love cream soups, but the tomato one sounds like it’ll go nice with your main.  I also chose that because although the mushroom and prime rib sounds good, if you have vegetarians, they won’t be able to eat it.

@FallBride100111: your menu sounds soo good! I want that salmon now! LOL I choose the Tomato soup because of the time of year and it would go best with the rest of your menu. Sounds soo yummy! πŸ™‚ Oh and I am usually a salad gal but this time I choose the soup…so that is really saying something πŸ™‚

I love the idea of doing a soup instead of a salad! I am really picky about my dressings, so I hardly ever eat salads at weddings (or even restaurants).  I think a soup course will really make your wedding stand out!  I voted for the brocolli cheddar, because it’s my favorite (I hate tomato soup, and I think a vegetarian choice is a good idea).

Hey date twin!! Tongue out omg we have the same dilemma! Exept my tasting will not be till at the earliest next week as they wouldnt let us taste till 60 days prior…So i also have a choice between SOUP or SALAD! and Tomato basil is also one of my options! haha… so far we are like you…we kind of feel like soup in october would be nice since the weather might be better for soup huh…also neither of us have been to a wedding where soup was served instead so it sounds like our wedding would stand our more for serving something out of the ordinary..

I want to know what other bees think about soup too!

A soup with the meat might actually be nice. I’m a vegetarian, so it kind of sucks when you go to a wedding or event and they have a yummy meat entree and then just a small salad. Plus it’s kind of cute to have warm soup at a fall wedding- that makes me feel all warm inside. πŸ™‚ haha

I would prefer the mushroom, rice and prime rib (which sounds amazing!) over the shrimp bisque. I just think it sounds more October-y. Vegetarians won’t be able to eat either one (pescaterians could eat the shrimp, but vegetarians don’t eat seafood either). The shrimp also opens up more allergy issues, too.

But, I hate seafood, so I may be biased. πŸ˜‰

Oh you’re right… I read this wrong. I thought it was wild rice soup served with prime rib, so I thought vegetarians could eat the wild rice soup…

Then I change my vote. Salad it is. πŸ™‚ haha

Ask a few of your friends and family who will be attending what they prefer. As far as appealing to a large diverse crowd, your best bets are Cheddar Broccoli soup or Caesar salad.

@FallBride100111: Spring mix salad for a Fall wedding?!  No way!  We’re doing tomato soup with mini grilled cheese sandwiches instead of salad for our November wedding.  Originally I had asked for tomato soup shooters with the mini grilled cheese sandwiches as an appetizer, but my caterer recommended just making that the first course, probably because that was the only concrete request I gave her.  Out of everything, I’m MOST excited for that part of the meal (and our entire menu makes me drool just thinking about it- vegetarian couscous paella, sage and butternut squash risotto cakes? DROOL.  November better get here fast!)

In conclusion, forget what everyone else says and serve tomato soup.  Your vegetarian guests will be happy to have something other than salad and rolls to eat at your wedding, and in my experience, very few people actively dislike tomato soup.  Even if a few don’t LOVE it, they’ll most likely still eat it.  Whereas with some of those other options (the mushroom soup one, in particular), I know LOT of people who wouldn’t eat them because of hatred for one or another of the ingredients.
