I have a “Hearts on FIre”… but not a H&A.  For us it was worth it, it is an excellent cut and we got it from a local jewelry store where my mother’s ring, and my grandmother’s ring came from.  My sister has a H&A, and she gets compliment on it all the time.  They are both extremely sparkly, but I know you can find excellent cuts without the name brand.  I love mine though!

Do you mean the ideal/brilliant cut?  (That’s what wiki says you mean).  Then yes, that’s what I have – nobody’s ever referred to them like that, though, my certificates say “brilliant”.  I’m sorry though, I don’t have photos – our camera crapped out and we haven’t gotten around to getting a new one yet.  I would personally say it was worth it to have them, they sparkle like mad and I’m too neurotic to settle for anything less than a perfect cut. 🙂  They also look bigger than they are, just because of the diamond proportions that are required by the “ideal” cut, so it’s even possible that we paid less for them than some girls with smaller-looking, heavier stones might have.

abbyful   GORGEOUS!!!  I love cushions and that is a great setting.  Do you know what kind of a band you’ll be having?

@BluegrassBunny: Like cbee, I also have a “Hearts on Fire” setting and diamond. It was totally worth it for us! However, I also believe you can get the same prettiness without the name brand.

@abbyful: VERY pretty!!!

Here’s mine!

not sure how great this pic is, but i LOVE my h&a. when i was looking for a band all the jewelers constantly commented on the amazing clarity. i didn’t even know it was a h&a for a few months after i got it, so no it didn’t make a huge difference to me, all i knew is that it was beautiful!

did not know the gypsy was one until reading on here somewhere about the HCA.  it is a gia triple ex but, as others have said, that does not necessarily guarantee h/a cut.  from experience for me, the combo of an ex cut with a <2 HCA makes the light play/performance beyond (i.e.: even in the darkest room/minimal light the stone ‘circularly glows’).  Best way I can put it.  Hopes that helps with your question.  Well cut sapphires/emeralds/rubies/etc. have that similar ‘mesmerizing halo effect’
