I thought I didn’t want fondant but as I look at all my pins on Pinterest, they seem to BE fondant. The bakery quoted me cheaper for icing and although I love the look of fondant, I do not like the idea of pulling it off the cake or eating it. Please show me your Cakes made in icing:)

Maybe I am old fashioned but I am not a fan of fondant, so I had mine made with buttercream. Plus everyone at my wedding told me they were happy the cake was not fondant and it tasted awesome. The flowers/lace on my cake matched my lace on my dress.

No offense to anyone, but ugh, fondant is SO gross.
We had 200 cupcakes plus a round cake with cream cheese frosting.

Our wedding is still 23 days away, but these are the pictures we gave to our baker and I hope it comes out as gorgeous!

We did not have a wedding cake, but instead purchased a variety of desserts (cakes, cookies, pies, chocolates) from Whole Foods and had them delivered to the venue. The cake we cut into was a chantilly cake. Ours was the regular 8″ cake, which looked like this:
But, you can do custom orders through WF, too, which this bride did and her cake looked much more like a “wedding cake.” http://theallanhouse.blogspot.com/2010/10/garden-party-wedding-at-allan-house-by.html

My wedding isn’t until April but we are having buttercream. I appreciate how gorgeous a fondant cake can look and what you can do with it, but I agree that it doesn’t taste good.
