I personally wouldn’t spend money modifying a .3 ct diamond. Why not sell the ring and put the money toward a new ring? Your SO already says he doesn’t mind.

If you don’t want to part with it, I’d buy another .3 ct princess cut diamond and have a jeweler set your new diamond and old diamond in a pair of stud earrings made from the gold of your ering.

Then I’d get a gemstone ring like a sapphire or ruby, or a moissanite ring if you want the white stone look for not much money. I’d buy used on diamondbistro.com or ebay to save even more money.

Let us know what you decide to do!

What about a bezel set?

Mine is a low set princess cut. The center stone is .46 ct. I had my prong set solitaire reset in a bezel semi mount. You could do something like that.
