Hello my sweet bee friends! I am thrilled to announce that the love of my life proposed to me on Friday! It was beautiful, surreal, and I am still in complete shock! I can hardly believe that after dating for 7 years, we are finally engaged! Waiting was not always easy, in fact, it was pretty difficult some of the time, but I knew that we were meant to be, and it was important to me that he propose when he was ready and not because of an ultimatum. It made it that much more special knowing that he was so excited and happy to take the next step with me 🙂
We left last Wednesday afternoon and drove from south Louisina to a place called Richland Creek in the Ozark mts. in Arkansas. Camping is one of our favorite shared hobbies, and we were long overdue for a trip together. We arrived late Wednesday night and camped, then woke up early on Thursday morning and backpacked. We found this beautiful spot next to a waterfall with incredible swimming holes. It was remote and breathtaking. We decided to camp there for the night and planned on hanging out at that spot the entire next day. We woke up Friday morning, made some breakfast, and decided to climb the waterfall and jump off! After we climbed the waterfall (it wasn’t too high) we walked around and stood on the edge looking out at the beautiful view. There were beautiful black and blue butterflies all around, and the sound of the water was so soothing. All of a sudden, he got down on one knee and looked up at me with a big smile. It didn’t quite register with me at first what he was doing. Then he said, “Will you marry me?” I immediately began crying and said, “Yes, of course!” I bent down to hug him and cried for a good five minutes in his arms, I was so happy. He laughed and hugged me, and then he put the most beautiful ring on my finger. I’m in awe of how gorgeous and sparkly it is! !
We were pretty remote in the middle of the woods, so we got to spend the whole day together, celebrating and enjoying our engagement with each other. We left on Sunday and waited until we got home to share the news with our families in person. I can still hardly believe that it actually happened! What an incredible feeling!
Here are pictures of my ring and the waterfall where he proposed. 🙂
