I had a fantastic experience! The consultant was very knowledgeable and really listened  to what I wanted. I was shocked that I had such a great experience. My best friend recently got her dress there as well and we had a great experience while dress shopping then too.

I would suggest maybe seeing if there is another Davids in the area that you could try. It may be that location isn’t too great.

@MrsStrawberry24:did you make an appointment? I made an appointment, and it wasn’t during a terribly busy time of the day, but my lady was helping someone else at the same time, so I had to wait awhile between the dresses while she got the next one.

But, hey, I got my dress there for $300, instead of $1000+ at a fancy high-service bridal shop!

@MrsStrawberry24: You are about an hour away from the DB I went to in Orland. I can not remember the name of the girl who helped me but I believe it started with an S and hmmm lol I could always call and see who mine was, I think they have that on record, if you wanted to head all the way out there. I just went to the one in Lombard with my friend. i wasn’t as crazy about everyone else but the girl she had was also great. I think her name was Michelle. I could be totally making that up though!

Oh yeah, that does suck for them! I am sorry you had such a bad experience. I would be pissed and that would totally have ruined me ever wanting to go back. However, you have a fantastic dress now and good luck finding bridesmaid dresses!

I wrote a whole post on how fabulous my experience has been at DB. I have found that going on a week day in the middle of the afternoon is the best time to go when they are bored.

db’s experiences hugely depend upon the store and the consultant. my own experience stems from bridesmaid dress shopping. we went to one store in the sacramento area and had a fantastic consultant who was very helpful and really nice. then we came back with the entire bridal party to the same store but had a completely different consultant and had a horrible experience. she was critical of everything we suggested, heavily pushed other items, made the 4 of us share one dressing room even though the store was nearly empty on a sunday afternoon [there were maybe 2 other groups there – both brides so obviously there were PLENTY of dressing rooms available] and even left our group to watch and comment on another bride! um…we’re spending money too!

that last experience sealed the deal for me: no more david’s bridal. i even wrote a letter to corporate telling them the same thing [they were very responsive, i’ll give them that, but it wasn’t enough to change my opinon. i’m very stubborn that way]. even though i have seen a few really nice dresses from there since, i refuse to give them more of my money.

but i know that every experience is different. if you’re not completely against giving them money after your first experience, give them another shot. try another store or just another consultant. hopefully your next time around will be a lot better!

Mine was eh… It was my first place (and only) and the lady I had was nice, but very “fake” knowegable. You know, like they are talking BS because they have no idea. She let me take photos, and try on anything I wanted, but said things I know now werent true about dress, about styles on me, ect. Also I felt SO pressured to BUY, and get a “p” size and a 4 instead of a 2 (because the samples are stetched out and had fit me perfect). I ended up buying, only to find out I could have gotten one that was better for cheaper at another boutique in the town up north. Then when I went back to pick up the dress and try it on another lady tried selling me EVERYTHING in sight, even though they had none of my sizes in shoes, veils were all too long for what I wanted, and undergarmets were not my size. I told her off the bat this, and that I always special order, only to be dismissed.

Oh! and the 4P dress?? They told me it would just make the dress shorter, but it really did change the siliouet I was looking for and liked on the reg size, along with being way too big needing alterations on the top.

I like my dress, but I am thinking the experience made me a little eh on it, which makes me sad.

I had an incredible experience at Davids. I had no intention of buying there. It was my first dress shopping experience. The girl was friendly and knew what she was doing. I ended up finding the dress of my dreams and picked out the bridesmaids dresses there that day. It was a perfect experience and I love everything about Davids and what I got.

I tend to agree with the ladies who said that it’s not David’s Bridal in general, it all depends on your consultant and the particular store.  Honestly, I had an amazing experience at David’s, and the worst experience ever at an Alfred Angelo…but I don’t blame that on Alfred Angelo as a whole, it was just a sucky day at the store.  Everyone has their bad days at work, regardless of what you do…you know?  I’m a huge David’s Bridal fan…I think it’s absurd to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a dress that you’re going to wear for four hours, and David’s has absolutely beautiful dresses for reasonable prices!  🙂
