Trying to figure out our budget for our DW in Cabo. The resort covers a lot but I am finding out things add up fast even with a DW. What were you budgets? This is not an elopment, there will be around 30 guests

We are getting married on Isla Mujeres off the coast of Cancun. We are only having 4 guests as our witnesses so not really eloping but not really a full-on DW either. Our package at the resort was $1400 for all the paperwork & blood tests, officiant, setup, coordinator, site fee, & chuppah on the beach with flowers. I am DIYing my bouquet & his bout & have budgeted $100 US but I expet it’ll be less than that. We are just doing a plain ol dinner at the resort no real reception per say so no charge there either. We also got a photographer for 3 hours instead of the full on 6-hr package for about $650 + travel. So total we’re in for just over $2,000 not including our attire or accomodations/flights (since we were going there for our honeymoon anyway, we just added some days before the wedding to meet the Mexico requirements).
I read online somewhere a while back that alot of resorts will do free basic wedding packages but I have yet to actually see that in person….

@BeckyS0: Oh man…$2,000? I am way out of control. I need to get my budget down!

@Lily_of_the_valley: $2,000 for only 4 guests & we aren’t doing a real reception just dinner so that cuts out really the majority of most people’s budget. What are you looking at if you don’t mind me asking?

@BeckyS0: Well… I have the option for a “semi-private” dinner reception which is included in the wedding package. Or I can upgrade to a private dinner reception and dancing on the beach for $800 plus about $35-40 per plate. There is also a charge for DJ music and lighthing (I think $640). Our wedding “package” is around $1800. I’m also DIY my flowers and centerpieces/decor.
So it could potentionally be like $3,600++ just for the wedding. Then there is decor and dresses and flights and hotel stay. Man it adds up quick!

@Lily_of_the_valley: If your resort isn’t absolutely huge I’d just skip the private dinner & that looks like it would save quite a bit there (I est. near $1,000 just for that!)
Really, that total doesn’t seem bad at all for your # of guests & with the full on reception. Our est. $2,000 split between 6 ppl (including us two) comes out to $333 per person, while yours is coming out to about $112 per person… Not too shabby really! =)

@Lily_of_the_valley: I didnt get married in Mexico but in Cuba but I thought I would share by budget anyways 🙂 We had 67 guests at our wedding so it was large. We had a free wedding ceremony and had to pay for small decorations at the cermony which were flower arrangements which was about $100. I brought my own chair sashes which were about $40 for 70 of them. We then had a private dinner and reception in a restaurant which was $46 per person so $3082 for the dinner. We also had to pay for the photographer which was only $150 for 2 hours (he did not come to the reception part) We stayed for 11 days in Cuba so we had to pay for that but since we had so many guests booked at the resort we were compensated the cost of 3 guests stays for free so we only had to pay $772 instead of $3856 which was very helpful! Another part of our budget was that we paid for our bridal parties attire which we spent about $1200 on. The cost of our clothing (dress and his suit) were paid for by his parents. We brought $5000 with us down there for our stay to pay for any wedding expenses and came back with $200 we also used that money for small souvenirs and tips while we were there.

@sweetchiquita12: thanks for the info! We also get discounts when our guests book, but I think it’s only like $25 per couple or something but I guess anything helps!

Wow everyone is doing so great with their budgets, ours is way out of control :(. We are at about £20k ($30k approx) and that is for 8 people. That does include everyone’s accommodation for two weeks though. And here was me thinking a DW was cheaper ha ha..
We are budgeting $10k for our wedding, this includes
- 25 guests
- semi-private dinner
- travel/accomodations (for us at least haha)
don’t really plan on a “dance” after just going to go out with everyone after to a club, which we are paying for of course

-Basic wedding package (ceremony, reception – including all food and drinks, and a few bonuses for the bride and groom)
– DJ + Dance floor + lights
– a Fireworks show to close up the night
Its going to cost our guests under $1300 for their travel and accomodations on a 1 week stay.

@Theonetime: WOW…fireworks?? Where the heck are you having your wedding at?? Love the idea of fireworks 🙂
Post # 16
@MrsRobertson2015: The Royal Decameron Complex in Bucerias, Its about 20 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta!
The fireworks came in three size options, as an added bonus to our package if we wished. I didn’t even think it was an option until they mentioned it to me… and then it became a “must have” haha
