Ooh I didn't vote, because they both look great, but I was just wondering about your other colours - flowers, dresses etc. Black & white wedding or diff colours?
Yes, what are your wedding colors? I think that plays a role in this question. :)
Hi aunt pol :) My colors are black, white and aqua. Bridesmaid dresses are aqua, groomsmen ties are black, and all the flowers at the wedding will be white. Decor at the reception (table numbers, signage, etc.) will be black and white. Thanks :)
Would you use those words or just the script style in general? I think that could be really nice with something meaningful on it, but as it is, I am not a fan of those words.
I'm not a fan of writing on the cake. I think the white on white cake is a much prettier design, but perhaps you could add some colorful elements? Perhaps some sort of aqua or black detailing?
@ Amaryllis - I won't be using "Yes, I said" I'll be using "Grow old with me. The best is yet to be."
If I go with the black and white one, I'll have "Grow old with me" on one tier and "The best is yet to be" in a lower tier.
What do you think?

I love the style of the black and white, but I don't like the "I said yes" phrase. The cake represents both of you, not just you. But, I love the look of it!
What about combing the two? Have flowers on the tiers where there is no writing.
The flowers on the 2nd one are so gorgeous! It's design is bold, yet still feminine. That cakes wins me over, hands down.
I have a soft spot for the big flowers.. I think they are beautiful, but the FI doesn't really like them! So I voted for the flower one for you.
The script one is very beautiful and unique though!
You could always go with the black and white one, and then add some flowers on the tiers that don't have script

I think both of those cake are amazing. I just prefer the simple white one. The flowers are so pretty on it. Either one you choose will work.
I love the idea of the wording, but unless that sample cake is your baker's work, I can see it going terribly wrong and not turing out very well. So I voted for the flowers, which are also very beautiful.

I love the second one because it is so classic and elegant. (It may also be because I am Asian and my family would go nuts over the black as that is a bad color according to Chinese tradition)
I voted for the plain white with flowers only because I didn't like the wording of the script cake. Seeing that you are planning on using a different phase I am a much bigger fan now. I tihnk it would be best to combine both in some way =)
I don't like writing on a cake because it is so hard to make it look good. So if you choose that design I would be sure to ask for samples of the bakery's writing.
Having said that, I love the bold flowers on cake 2
I voted for the cake with flowers, but after reading the comments, I think you should definitely see about combining the two and choosing the phrases that are meaningful to both you and your fiance.

what about putting the flowers on the one with the script? might be too much..not sure
Thanks ladies! I will definitely ask my baker if she can combine the two, that way I will have the wording "Grow old with me, the best is yet to be" and at the same time be able to include the large pretty flowers.
Although Jacqi and vintage2010 made important points about the baker's script, and the fact that it could go terribly wrong if she doesn't do it properly. I'll be sure to ask for samples of her script work.
The script isn't bad, but the flowers are so romantic, I couldn't resist.
I love black and white cakes, but I'd vote for Cake 2. Maybe do Cake 2 with white flowers with black on it?
We pretty much have the same colors (black, white, pool, and silver). The white cake stuck out to me.
My cake will be white, with some bling (it has different textures).

Our colors are black and white, BUT! Our cake inspiration IS the bottom picture. I ordered it about three months ago. The ribbon has been patiently waiting to be used since then!

I love them both, but after considering it, I voted for the script. I think it is more interesting and original.
The flowers are so striking; the worded cake is nice, but not my style.
I like the black and white one, because it's something different and shows more personality. Although I would change the saying around it so that it incorporates the both of you.

Not sure which cake to go with, as I equally love both.
I like the script on the black and white one, but I also like the plain white one for its bold sugar flowers.
What do you guys think looks prettier?
