Any other New England brides street size 18/20? I put off dress searching for so long because I was discouraged by the lack of stores that actually carried samples in my size, street size 20 seems to be a bridal 24, 26, or 28 in some lines so a 16 sample really doesn’t give a great idea! Other then david’s Bridal, I found a couple of stores but even those had such a small selection I just feel so limited. Anyone have any luck besides David’s Bridal? I tried Botticelli in RI she had a handful of dresses but none were quite right for me. Marry and Tux in New Husband had an ok selection, again I tried on 4 or 5 but nothing was quite perfect.
Other than that i really can’t find any stores that have more than 1 or 2 large samples. I find the stores that do have one or two samples only have big poofy or blinged out dresses.
I’m feeling discouraged. I don’t know where else to look. I am sick of trying to squeeze into tiny dresses and then look in the mirror and try and guess what it will look like. Or holding them up in front of me. I would never even go buy jeans and just squeeze on a 6 and then look in the mirror to decide if they would look good on me in my size, let alone a huge expensive purchase!
Any ideas of good stores to check out would be appreciated.

Sorry I wish I had advice, but I’m commenting to follow just because I’m curious. I only went to David’s bridal (I’m size 18, 6′ tall).

I believe Vows in Watertown (MA) carries plus size dresses, but I can’t speak to the selection. You can view their available dresses on their website.

@curlybride2012 they did have a handful when I called and asked. Maybe 4 or 5. I may go check them out.

I emailed Bella Sera Bridal & Lorraine Roy at Bella Sera Bridal in Danvers and they said they had several dreses in size 16, 18, 20’s but I have not gone there yet to check them out. <br />

I am plus size. I was around a 16/18 when I went to try on dresses and Bella Sera in Danvers was great. Like you I was discouraged and wanted to put dress shopping off, but they made the experience a good one. And their prices weren’t bad. I think I paid about $1000-$1100 for my dress. I had my alterations done some place closer to home.

When I went to vows I believe they had some of those sizes. I’m not 100% though. I do remember seeing plus size though. Hope it helps 🙂 it’s a great store.
Whoops someone said this. Sorry
