Have you had alterations anywhere yet? My seamstress will help me pick out the best shapewear and undergarments for my dress.
im having the same problem but my dress has straps.. Johnitta, would you reccomend Body Magic? looks great on you but is it comfy?
@FutureMrsTaylor- Yes, my seamstress suggested a corset, but didn't know where to find one for a plus sized woman.
@Caborrett- YES! I would recommend Body Magic! It's funny because it took me laying on my back on the floor and two people to put it on, but it was very comfortable and provided an incredible amount of support!
great ill look into that then! i dont care how hard it is to get in, as long as it does its job LOL thnx so much!
if you want a proper honest to god corset, i whole heartedly recommend Sparklewren, she's here in the UK but she'll ship to the USA,
She will make a totally bespoke corset to your measurements, she's doing my corset for my outfit (it'l be the centre piece of mine though)
trust me, she roicks!
I got my bra at a place that was recommended to me by the shop that I bought my dress at. The store was an old fashioned place. All they carried were bras, and an older woman measured me. They were great there though. I would suggest that you find a good place for measurements, because I was a very differnent cup size in one of these style bras!
This is the brand and style of longline bra that I used.
You would have the seamstress sew it into the dress, so it keeps you sucked in and supported.
I just bought the corset for my dress from this ebay store: http://stores.ebay.com/Xtremecorsets as well as an aditional corset since I love wearing corsets. If you contact her she'll tell you how to find your size and I guarentee she'll have your size there.
Also, another alternative is to find an SCA kingdom near you. They're into medieval types of costuming, which include corsets. You'll find tons of people that do corseting within your region. http://www.sca.org/geography/
Just remember there's tons of different corset cuts out there so you'll want one that matches the neckline of your dress, and one that is relatively thin layered but with good steel boning.
ok actually i have two answers.... plus size corsets can be found at www.hipsandcurves.com
and also the makers of Body Magic has another version called the Body Fashion which holds you in the same way but has a lower back and removable straps
I bought my corset from ebay as well. The seller is glamour accessories. I was very happy with my purchase and they offer a variety of sizes.
@Johnitta what do you think of the body magic? i just ordered one and was wondering if it did any of the things it said it helps with (back pain, sucking it in, calorie reduction--because its hard to eat while wearing!) let me know!
@futuremrsblocker have you tried the body fashion? if i have a good experience with the body magic i might order it to wear with my gown! did you try body fashion? and how did it work for you?
@loveandacademia- I LOVE the body magic! As a fluffy girl, I often find shapewear that rolls up or down, doesn't provide any back support and does very little to suck my in! However, the body magic did ALL three, PLUS it was comfortable! (It was extremely hard to put on, even with the assistance of 2 other ladies, but it's extremely comfortable!) Here's my before picture! What do you think?
@ johnitta OH MY GOSH. Of course you look spectacular in that dress no matter what, but what a difference in the way the shaper makes it sit on your body! I am so glad I took the plunge and ordered it..now I am just DYING for it to come in to see what it can do for me...I am a big girl, and most of it sits in my stomach, so whenever I wear one of the other types of shapers they usually roll down and add an extra lump to my gut :(
Really want the body magic! Is this the right one? want to make sure before buying http://www.lose3dresssizes.com/67-body-fashion.html
@caborette that is the body fashion, made by the same people, but that one is strapless...im looking into that one next if the strapped one (body magic) does the trick! i dont usually wear strapless, but my dress is semi-strapless, so body fashion should help :)
another great place to order corsets for us plus sized girls is Laurensilva.com I ordered one off there, to wear for FBIL's wedding, and then if it was comfortable, to wear for my own... and it's FANTASTIC!!! great lift and support, and comfortable. I got the Valmont longline microfiber, and it's perfect!

After searching, searching and searching more, I've yet to find a reliable plus sized corset. I'm looking for something that slims, gives a waist and provides support. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations. Below, I've attached a picture of me in my dress. Here I have on a Body Magic, the newest craze in shapewear. However, unfortunately, as you can see, the Body Magic has straps and my dress is strapless.
